I dont think people care about Gladius, based on its sales. Too bad though, tremendous game IMO.

They fix general emulation issues that impact games people do actually care about and then try to run all the games that don't currently work to see if other games on the list of unsupported titles list now work too. Any game that is suddenly now working or near enough to working that the effort to make it run fully is trivial is then added onto the BC release.
Sometimes, rarely, a gem comes along that far outlasts its intended one year run. NHLPA 93 or NHL Hockey would be a good example for me. But for the most part I agree with you, I'd rather not see too much work making old _series_ sports titles work. Stand alone sports titles would be okay though.
