I have been getting error 500's for the past couple of days. Usually really late at night/early morning (i.e: 2:45ish am).
Has anyone else been getting piles of connection errors in the last 10 hours or so? It's like the old phpBB days.

Well at least that's appropriate.Originally Posted by SqueakyFoo
Yeah, me too.
Yup. Lots of connection errors, and when it does connect, I get a screen of the blue background before the forum comes up.
On occasion, yeah.
I'm pretty sure it means that chet's hacked our computers.
I've been getting both 500's and the DB error screen, but mostly 500's.
I get them around then as well. I figured it was due to a backup routine.
I assumed it was a mass amount of traffic coming to see all the awesome Shit Bonerz jokes.
BTW, who says Q23? I thought the cool cats around here said QT3 while crusing around in their Chevy Corvairs with their leather jackets and blond dames around their arms.
Over 2,500 years ago, there was a massive war fought over whether to abbreviate it as Q23 or QT3. Everyone was killed.
I keep getting stupid overflow errors when I try to search.
I have to submit a research propsoal tomorrow, and I'm considering doing it on the rising cost of video game development. I was hoping to scoop out some polite QT3 developers to give me some quotes for my paper but the damn thing keeps telling me....

The forum search utility isn't functional. You have to use Google.

No one will ever need more than 640k^H^H^H^H8M of memory. It's actually really easy to get this error: almost any search with more than one term will do it.Originally Posted by theKevin
It makes you wonder about some of the server specs. PHP 4.3.10 was released Dec 2004. MySQL 3.23.58 is like mid-2002. Linux 2.4.21 is summer 2003. Can we get a little extra RAM to do a search or are we out of 4x16 SIMM slots or something? If I click on enough eBay boyshorts ads, will we accumulate the $20 needed to splurge on a 512MB PC100 stick?
That's just the default limit on PHP scripts in a stock Apache install, I think, and the admin has to tinker with the PHP config files it to raise it.
I've also been seeing big multi-minute pauses where the server doesn't respond at all, and it seems to affect other related sites like PoE/PoEN as well and happens both from home and the office, so I'm not sure what's up there.
The delays seem to occur most often when the server is trying to load some ads, so it's really the ad servers that are slow in my experience.
Fucking errors.
The site was down for at least five minutes. I almost died, as I compulsively refreshed.
Boy I'm going to be happy to take my month of vacation.
The Ship, she is sinking.
Had it for about five minutes too. Hmm... Lost a post, I think too :(
IT WAS THE GYPSIES!!!!
Grah!
Be sure to notify tomchick every time you get an error!
I heard they are run by an artificial rat brain equipped with lasers. Srsly.Originally Posted by madkevin
I've been seeing it for about a week, including just a few minutes ago. It's definately a server issue.Originally Posted by SqueakyFoo
