TV needs moar Damien Lewis!
Agreed.
Leno's mediocrity is so tremendous it transcends reality?
Oh....never mind.
So I just finished watching the second season. SPOILARZ!!!!

Okay, so Crews and dead friend owned a bar that Rayborn wanted to use to launder money, I guess maybe money from the Bank of Los Angeles bank robbery. The idea being if the bar is dirty and Crews has his name on it, he will be dirty by association and then have to take over for Rayborn in whatever his enterprise is. I assume that Rayborn employed Nevikov for some crime stuff, Nevikov decided he wanted more than he was getting, Dead Friend and Dead Friend's family (except for daughter) all get killed as part of that? Or did Rayborn kill off the family when Dead Friend turned him down? I'm guessing more the latter since the killer was an american.
So was the Bank of Los Angeles robbery the beginning of Rayborn's criminal enterprise? His seed money if you will and Jack Reese et all just took theirs and did other things (like give it away in Reese's case)?
And where do you think things would have gone from there? I assume we track down the truth behind Jack Reese's disappearance? I guess I'm curious what was left of the conspiracy had the show been picked up (since they showed "The Wall" with 3 slots still unfilled). And would that conspiracy still have mattered?
Overall I liked the show. Sometimes the Zen could get a little annoying and heavy handed, but the main cast were always good and I liked the addition of Logue to the show (anyone know what the official reason was for that casting move?). I would have liked to see it go on because I like the actors, but it wasn't so impactful that I'll truly miss it.
That was basically my understanding as well.
The details are already fading, but I think I remember Rayborn saying that dead friend wasn't supposed to be dead, he was supposed to be threatened (possibly to make sure he didn't talk to anyone but Crews about the problem), but dead friend didn't react the way they expected, so they killed him to keep him silent - or maybe the situation just got out of hand. I can't remember the exact transition from blackmail/corruption scheme to murder, but I'm pretty sure they didn't want dead friend to become dead because they needed him alive, in trouble, and asking Crews for help (or maybe they just needed him alive and dirty because that would be enough guilt-by-association to give Rayborn the leverage on Crews he wanted).
In an interview earlier this year Damian Lewis said that he thought future seasons would deal with the remaining conspirators.

I hope beyond hope that maybe HBO will snatch Lewis back up and put him in the ASOIAF series. I just dunno where they'd put him.
I finally saw the last few episodes of Life on my DVR this weekend, starting with Crews' new partner being assigned to him. I love how the quality of the episodes was just so consistently good throughout the series' run. I'm going to miss this show.
awdougherty, thanks for the summary above, the last episode was a bit confusing for me and reading your post helped clarify things in my head.
I'm going to miss this show (only watched it on Hulu, but still gonna miss it).
It never got too dumb, and Capt. Winters is a facinating actor to watch. Plus, as I've stated elsewhere, the casting director had a killer eye for the ladies.
Three of the "featured" women where Christina Hendricks, Sarah Shahi(sp?) and Gabrielle Union (I also liked the older English lady but missed the shows where she was introduced) - that's a murderers row. And every female role (murder victims, murderers, wives, girlfriends, ect ect was filled with redonkulously attractive women.
I'm going to miss Life soo much 'sniff' 'sniff" I can be strong.
Haha, bumping this 3 year old thread!
Just finished watching the two seasons on netflix, and I thought they
were pretty awesome.
As I was getting to the end of season 2, I got pretty bummed that it was canceled.
I liked Damian Lewis a lot, so I think I'm going to check out homeland.
/sad
Hahaha, awesome. I loved, LOVED this show, and thought season two was even more awesome than the awesomeness of season one. I was also bummed when it was cancelled, but honestly I think they ended it well enough that while I wanted more, I didn't feel cheated.
Yeah, I too need to watch Homeland.
Just did a rewatch on Netflix myself. Totally holds up.
Homeland is awesome, Life was awesome, Damian Lewis as Captain Winters was also awesome!
Those two shows did, however, make it extremely odd to watch him host Have I Got News for You.
