He was probably just upset over being impregnated by aliens.

If it really happened, I'm betting it's because someone told him "no" for the first time in his life.

    Hang in there, Owen!

All those pictures of Whitta happily fondling expensive electronic equipment says you're wrong.

And as a great philosopher (well. Weird Al Yankovic) once said:
"If money can't buy happiness I guess I'll have to rent it"

Maybe Owen Wilson was tired of seeing Owen Wilson in Owen Wilson movies? That or he was being blackmailed into co staring with Ben Stiller again.

I wasn't like every other kid, you know, who dreams about being an astronaut, I was always more interested in what bark was made out of on a tree. Richard Gere's a real hero of mine. Sting. Sting would be another person who's a hero. The music he's created over the years, I don't really listen to it, but the fact that he's making it, I respect that. I care desperately about what I do. Do I know what product I'm selling? No. Do I know what I'm doing today? No. But I'm here, and I'm gonna give it my best shot.

Hope the story turns out to be false.

Wikipedia has it and cites Fox News and UPI as carrying it and terming it a "suicide attempt" so apparently it is true. Superficial wrist wounds, a bottle of pills, and in serious condition at the hospital.

Seems very weird but all we know about most celebrities is their public image so who knows what's going on in his personal life.

Hope not. Wedding Crashers was hilarious, and so was Night at the Museum.

And National Enquirer wasn't Bat Boy... That was the now deceased Weekly World News.

Yeah, National Enquirer is actually pretty good at celebrity gossip. I think that's because they buy stories so they get insiders who leak things to them.

Just because someone can look happy in public and be gorgeous and awesome, doesn't mean they don't suffer from depression or something like that. From some of the people that came into my group therapy sessions, I know that the disorder pretty much affects every kind of person. You may *be* the most successful person in the world, but if you don't *feel* that way, you're in your own little private hell.

He's also an actor and actors basically are paid to hide their true selves and be something they're not, so it's often hard to tell if they're really suffering from something.

It's not false - it's being covered at reputable movie news sites as well, along with some information from Wilson friends.

It's really sad. Apparently he has some real issues that make him unhappy, according to guys quoted at Jeffrey Wells' site. I really like Owen and hope he comes through this fine.

Reported by the LA Times, although that may stretch the definition of "reputable source."

How am i supposed to tell my 2.5-year-old kid that Lightning McQueen hates himself?

Ditto. He's always come across as a very decent, genuine guy. Plus, he makes me laugh.

That is honestly the saddest thing I've ever seen written on a forum.

Maybe he looked in the mirror and saw he was really a TV pro wrestler and couldn't take the truth of it.

The responsibility of a controlled public image has little to do with being an actor and everything to do with being an obsession of the mass public.

Wow. I've always thought of Owen Wilson as someone genuinely funny and likeable. He's one of the few Hollywood celebrities I'd always thought would actually be pretty cool to just hang out with. I sincerely hope this was just an isolated incident and that he can get the help he needs to recover both physically and mentally.
