FY09? Yeah, I thought so. Oh well, it's not like there's going to be any shortage of happy gaming goodness late this year. Fallout 3 alone will consume my Q4. (Assuming it doesn't slip.....)
It's on the PC too? Oh thank god, I hate playing an FPS on console. Didn't remember seeing any info on it.

What was up with the guy commentating during that demonstration? He was far too excited about every single thing that happened in the game. It felt really pandering... he was giving me a petting zoo guide vibe. "Oh wow! Look at that! That goat just moved! Wooow! Woo! Oh man I LOVE that goat! Goats can be used for MILK too you know!"
And the whole dynamic generation of guns? I dunno... has dynamic generation of art ever given good results? I'd rather have 100 modeled guns than, what did he say? 500,000?
Also, the big draw of Autoduel was the strategic element of gun placement, protecting armor quadrants, tire blowouts, etc. The car combat in this looks like Interstate 82... just keep blasting away and eventually the car explodes.
I had really high hopes for this... and from what I've seen so far I'm becoming very reserved.
Magic?
Seriously, my bad, though the term they use is "procedurally generated", not "dynamically generated".
That said, if you look at the vid where he starts cheating and just spitting out weapons, all the ones I saw were pretty cool. I think the key word is "procedurally" generated. The narrator says that they have rules for the generation of the guns, which means the parts aren't thrown together at random or "willy nilly".
So I was wrong in thinking they weren't generated but you're wrong in thinking they're just thrown together. Let's call it even :)
Bump for Borderlands' new look...

I was sure the bump was news that the game was canceled.
People on other forums are having a fit over the change in art direction. I don't get it. Do people really get that invested in a game they haven't played that isn't even part of an established franchise?
Really? We're posting scans here now?
Isn't "cel shaded" the wrong way to characterize that art style? The Kotaku article keeps referring to it that way. It's really annoying.
Whatever. I think it looks really cool. It reminds me a little of Brom's artwork for Dark Sun back in the day.
If it's cel shaded it's cel shaded. 'Style' doesn't really come into it.
Whoa, nice. Consider my interest re-upped.
At least the art style now makes the game stand out a bit. I always thought it kind of got lost in the crowd before.
Gearbox doesn't call it cel shading, they call it "concept style." The differences are in the level of detail they get into it, the way shadows are handled, and the way lines are drawn.
If that's representative of the game, I think it's going to look great.
