Girls feet cut off from Superman ride in 6 Flags. Yikes!

    http://www.cnn.com/2007/US/06/21/six...ent/index.html

Not only would it be horrifying to have it happen to you.. but imagine sitting next to her and seeing her feet amupated and falling to the ground... or being underneathe the ride as her feet plop in front of you blood spraying all over. This is just terrible.

Are accidents at these big parks more common than we think?

I am pretty sure any accident outside of bruising is reported in the news at some point. Almost all modern big park rides are incredibly safe nowadays.

Pretty much every amusement park has large underground storage where they keep all the dismembered body parts and dead kids, yeah. But they're good for their states' economies, so the cops hush it all up.

    Edit-

Well now dammit that site looks like it covers the entire world. I wonder what the actual statistics are. My guess after skimming that is it's still far more dangerous to go out for a jog.

Oh yeah? Why don't you try telling that to the girl with no feet.

I was just providing the link for the general edification of the thread.

I'd bet that it's safer than being a pedestrian and less safe than flying in a commercial airliner.

Bah, so what? I saw worse in Hostel and that Captivity trailer...

Also, it's apparently safer than eating salsa.

Silver lining: Free admission to Six Flags parks for life! Plus: Special waiver if she's now under the minimum height for any ride by the amount of foot/leg lost.

Plus, she's going to be kept safe from the risks of being a pedestrian.

No one ever concentrates on all the good that dismembering thrill rides do. It's always the negatives. I blame the media.

    You all are insensitive clods!

Imagine how she feels right now! Just take a walk in her shoes!

Well, no one will ever accuse her of having two feet left.

I am so going to hell.

Well she won't have to worry about in-grown toe nails anymore and I'm sure the transition to prosthetic feet will go smoothly with the $50 million she'll have sitting in her account.

It's a shame to lose body parts on such a shitty ride.

We jest, but only to distance ourselves from the tragedy and pretend that it could never happen to us. I don't think a single person in this thread who's made a joke isn't truly horrified and feeling immense sadness for this poor girl, but there really isn't much we can do. None of us can sew her feet back on, none of us are going to seek her out and help her through rehab or to come to terms with a life without feet.

A woman in her 30s tried to exit the boat the top of the final drop at the Gothenburg, Sweden amusement park. She allegedly grabbed the side of the flume as her boat dropped away from her, down the ramp. She then slid down the flume ramp where she was hit by at least one other boat. The woman suffered head injuries and was listed in serious condition.
Imagine this - all the buildup for the flume, Ms. Sweden just can't take the thought of a watery plunge to certain death. Grabbing on for her life, she leaves the boat, but falls down the flume - the very fate she fought so hard to avoid. Scared, soaked, she struggles to regain her feet, thinking "Ok, I made it, that wasn't so bad..." WHAM! Cut down by the next boat in the line...

As someone who hates these sorts of rides, and only goes on them at approximately 5 year intervals, when the memory of how much I hated the last one has faded, this will keep me in the damn boat until the ride comes to a complete halt.

Dolphins are fucking brutal creatures. I have no idea where all that pro-dolphin "We save people!" propoganda came from. If they're not trying to eat or drown you, they're trying to have sex with you.
