Am I the only one who notices that Lara Croft's face render has always looked like she has Down's Syndrome?Originally Posted by Jasper
Yeah. The PS1 had only 1MB of on-screen video ram... Most characters looked like accident victims due to texture stretching. A buddy of mine once showed me how he'd use a head scarf as sleeves and leggings. It was crazy.Originally Posted by Linnaeus

Are you saying she's a Mongoloid?
That might actually work. We're huge Colbert fans.Originally Posted by Flowers

As the teaser mentions, Namco's tale of souls and swords is reaching its inevitable conclusion.
Dead or Alive had a jiggle factor that could be changed by adjusting the character's age.Originally Posted by curst
My personal favorite SC was on the Dreamcast.
There's some debate about what the age variable did. I'm still unconvinced it changed any jiggle factor, at least in DOA2 for the PS2.Originally Posted by Wobbo

The only problem with SC on the Dreamcast was playing it with the DC controller. The little nub on the X button and the corners of the d-pad bruise your thumbs pretty quick.Originally Posted by Wobbo
So you go stick your thumbs in an ice pack for two minutes, come back and play more!
It wasn't the character's age, it was the player's age that you could adjust, all the way up to 99.Originally Posted by Linnaeus
It did have an effect, but it wasn't worth looking more closely to see.
It irritates me. I love this series, and I've always liked the character and art design. But the progessive DOA-ification of the female characters sucks. If I want to look at porn I'll look at porn.
I think the game needs more tits.
The game really hasn't grown or done anything new, its languishing like every other fighting game. They tend to tack on silly half developed ideas like the story mode from 3.
Innovate or just let it be.
What I find strangest is that for a while fighting games were your graphical showpieces, now not so much. They still look good, but for a game with only two onscreen characters they are not far and away better than what we are seeing elsewhere, in fact so far the fighting games seem to be almost lagging behind a bit.
Fighting games need to be able to never dip below 60 fps, whereas in many other genres it's acceptable to drop some frames from time to time when action is at its heaviest.Originally Posted by forgeforsaken

Hugin, I'm with you, but it won't drive me away from the game as long as it's fun to play still. That being said, my 9 year old daughter has already asked why the girls in SC3 have such huge breasts... My answer being, "ummm..because that's the way they were drawn." Then a discussion about why. Gotta love fighting games that are social discussion tools.
"I'm no bad. I'm just drawn that way."
A friend sent me this link very upset that Ivy had been more covered up in US but I knew you would be thankful. Maybe someone at Namco USA division reads here? hehehe

Her humongous cup size is still intact though
Woah, they're making a XBLA version of Soul Calibur? Nice.
So, I'm still not sure about the new female character designs (Ivy looked somewhat less ridiculous in the last footage I saw, at least), but the game is very much near release, and I can't wait.
Especially now that I know The Secret Apprentice, yes, from The Force Unleashed, is a playable character in the game. Everything else Star Wars related is unknown, but the rumor seems fairly probable knowing Namco (Yoda/Vader being available as DLC for the non-native platform shortly after release, possibly a pack of other SW universe characters which may be Luke Skywalker, Darth Maul, Mace Windu, or General Grievous). Namco sure does love to charge extra for things that were already done, like extra Ace Combat 6 planes on release day, and the Lucas-Namco relation is clearly friendly if this is how the Apprentice gets his playable debut.
Apparently if you have a store willing to break street date, you could get this game this weekend. Here's a video of a guy who bought it at a store opening the game and playing a round with Ivy vs Yoda. Yoda actually looks like he'd be fun to play, surprisingly. And Ivy didn't look completely ridiculous, although maybe it's just hard to tell because of the hand-held camera work. It's not a very good video.
The sheer concept of Ivy vs. Yoda hurts my head. What a sad fucking day.
In Halo 4 I hope it's Master Chief vs. Darth Vader teamed up with mirror universe Kirk.
Yeah, it's killing me to have another week, but I don't have the local connections to get a broken street date copy. And the camera work on that leak is simply awful.
I'm amused by SW characters in game, but I enjoyed Link in SC2, I thought he worked in the universe well. SW characters don't really fit in terms of story, but for combat I think they're a great match, and the excuse of magical weapons helps alleviate "OMG LIGHTSABERS WOULD MELT THAT SWORD" to me.
But I have a hard-on for lightsabers, and wanted Star Wars in a good fighting engine since Teras Kasi's suckfest (I'll state Revenge of the Sith was a step in the right direction in duel mode, for the record).
I'm just hopeful Vader is also eventually unlockable...because who the fuck wants to play Yoda vs. Soul Calibur? (Let's forego the whole new apprentice marketing ploy)
