What the fuck? Someone is defending Falwell? I fucking hate this planet.
Women are the biggest minority in the entire world, so it's not really surprising that God would ordain them. I'd guess He's been pretty busy ordaining all the other minorities too. By now pretty much everyone's been ordained that's gonna be, I suppose.
Edit: What Flowers said.

It's a flat planet, after all.........Originally Posted by Bill Dungsroman

Devil: Why so glum, chum?
Falwell: What do you think? I'm in hell.
Devil: Hell's not so bad. We actually have a lot of fun down here. You a drinkin' man?
Falwell: Sure, I love to drink. Wine is a sacrament after all.
Devil: Well you're gonna love Mondays then. On Mondays that's all we do is drink. Whiskey, tequila, Guinness, wine coolers, diet Tab, and Fresca. We drink till we throw up and then we drink some more.
Falwell: Gee, that sounds great.
Devil: You a smoker?
Falwell: You better believe it. I'm proud of my Virginian heritage!
Devil: Alright! You're gonna love Tuesdays. We get the finest cigars from all over the world and smoke our lungs out. If you get cancer, no biggie - you're already dead, remember?
Falwell: Wow. That's awesome.
Devil: I bet you like to gamble.
Falwell: You know, Bill Bennett and I used to always -
Devil: Cause Wednesday you can gamble all you want. Craps, Blackjack, Roulette, Poker, Slots, whatever. If you go bankrupt, well, you're dead anyhow.
Falwell: I think I could get used to this place..
Devil: You into drugs?
Falwell: Well, it turns out I used to have a little habit nobody knew about... in fact I think that's partly why I'm here. Do you mean -
Devil: That's right Thursday is drug day. Help yourself to a great big bowl of crack or smack. Smoke a doobie the size of a submarine. You can do all the drugs you want and if ya overdose - that's alright - you're dead, who cares? O.D.!!
Falwell: Yowza!! I never realized Hell was such a righteous place.
Devil: Let me ask you something else: Are you gay?
Falwell: What? Of course not, that's disgusting!
Devil: Ooooh (grimaces), You're gonna hate Fridays . . .
I can't wait for Phelps to die. Just to see if anyone actually defends him in any way. Oh alright then, also because he's evil.
How awful is it (for him) that for each of those quotes a scripture immediately came to my mind contradicting his bullshit? I rejoice that he's dead: if he was a believer he was making a pretty shitty name for the rest of us and finally got called to have his deeds judged; if not then he was a double hypocrite and a false teacher.Originally Posted by charmtrap

Still, Falwell was pretty much a piece of shit. I think it'll be interesting to compare and contrast how Falwell and Billy Graham (who most people...even hellbound atheists like myself seem to, at least, grudgingly respect) are remembered.

Thanks for depressing me Anders.
Reading the comments by the people on Free Republic did more to make me question my policy against killing than any attempt at a reasoned argument regarding punishment, the cost of housing, and utilitarianism ever will.
Thanks Free Republic!
Anders motivated me. Before I read that stuff, I was feeling kinda sluggish this morning, now I am pumped to go and build a woodshed in my back yard. Because I am going to be taking a lot of people to the woodshed and beating the shit out of them. So much so that I really couldn't just borrow a friend's woodshed. I'd just be in there all day.Originally Posted by Kareem

Meh, what else are they going to say in public, on the record, in a country run by religious nuts? I'm sure they all fucking despised him behind closed doors.
Those quotes are horrendous.
STAKE HIM!!!!
I saw a story on the news that I thought was funny. I think it was about the last interview Falwell had.
In this interview (about a month ago), Falwell talks about some guy from the bible who was going to die and he prayed to god to give him 15 more years of life, which god did.
Then Falwell says something like, "I have asked god for 20 more years with an option to extend." He was only half-joking, if joking at all. He then says something like, "I am confident Ill be here for a very long time doing the lord's work."
So a month later, he keels over and dies. I wonder what his devoted followers think. If god is granting wishes for his favored people, then it must mean that Falwell was not among them. If god isn't doing that, then Falwell was wrong. Either way, its not good. I suppose the best way to deal with it will be to forget he ever said that.
He was a craven bottom-feeder who preached hate. I hope there's a Hell so he's in it.
I hope there's not a Hell, because making people suffer eternally is for assholes. Just plain dead forever is about right.
Think? You're giving his followers waaaaaaaaaay too much credit.Originally Posted by DeepT

It disgusts me to see how the media is sugarcoating his insanity. And here's a nugget from Dr. Phil "He promoted healthy debate in this country."
First Ashcroft and now Hitchens. My world is going topsy turvy. *laughs*
My otherwise shitty week would be completely turned around if both Falwell and Dr. Phil died within days of each other. I guess I still have hope.Originally Posted by Jakub

Ding Dong! The witch is dead!
Fuck Falwell. May his movement and politics die with him, while those who once looked up to him see the error of their ways.
Oh, and fuck you too Crispus, for defending such a shameless bigot!
Hitchens does a lovely job here...

The closing line is priceless:
"If you gave Falwell an enema you could bury him in a matchbox."
Hitchens is ripe for a similar interment. Fucker screamed loudest for Iraqi blood.
