    $12,100 USD for a PS3

There is no end to the crazy.

Neat paint job. But... $12,100? WTF is wrong with people? I have lost faith in humanity now. Excuse me while I weep into my pillow.

Damn I was going to post that I doubted the winning bidder was a paying bidder but I checked the feedback and it's already been left by the seller.

I like how they included the store receipt.

Because I am sure that busting your PS3 open and spray painting it bright red with auto paint is not going to void the return warranty.

Also the dude that bought the white spray painted one also bought the red one?

Yeah, too bad the PS3 wasn't retrofitted into a plastic toy guitar, then it would have been TOTALLY worth it.

Well, that paint is really expensive.

Pretty sure the winning bidder was using a hacked account. Just had a name change a couple of weeks ago -- plus the bid is insane.

eBay sucks for sellers nowadays. Used to be a regular part of my electronics "upgrade" program, but nowadays I typically try to sell on Craigslist or expo.live.com first. Too many idiots griefing auctions.

    Favorite part of the auction:
YOU ARE BIDDING ON AN ACTUAL SONY PLAYSTATION 3 - 60GB - NOT A PREORDER! ITEM WILL BE READY TO SHIP ASAP!
Cool! Because you sure can't, like, walk into any Target on the planet and pick one up nowadays.

Seems more likely to be just a gimmick to get traffic on the seller's website that he mentions like 20 times in the auction description. "Wow, that guy sold a PS3 for $12K! I should check out his site!"

    Denny:

If you check the feedback for the buyer, the guy selling the PS3 has already posted there saying the transaction went perfectly.

... until the bank takes away the money for the fraudulent transaction!

    It could happen, anyway.

That doesn't really prove anything, though, does it?

Doesn't it prove the seller got his money?

Not if the buyer and seller know each other and it's a scam to get publicity.
