Wii in standby w/ WiiConnect24 question

My Wii's been in standby (WiiConnect24 on) for a few hours, and then all of a sudden the disc slot starts pulsing blue. It hasn't stopped for 20 minutes and this is the first time I've seen it do this. What does it mean?

If you don't like the blink notification, you can disable it in the system settings.

I wish I can get the Wii to blink blue when playing a game. Isn't it silly to blink blue when no one is supposed to be looking at it?

That's the point. It's supposed to draw your attention to it so you know that something is waiting for you.

Oh. THAT's what it means!?! I thought that it will turn the light on only when connecting, and that it will turn it off afterwards. Duh... I better go turn that feature back on.
