PDAs are dead. What you want is a phone that has PDA functions.
I need a PDA of some sort. I mainly need one that will synch easily with Outlook Calendar. I don't really care about other features than the calendar stuff but it would be kind of nice to able to type notes on it from time to time, as I have a Belkin folding keyboard from an old HP Pocket PC I used to have. As usual, I'm at a loss with what to get and am hoping for some suggestions.

I really do agree with what he says. I just cant see my self carrying around 2 devices any more.Originally Posted by wumpus

Google up the Samsung i760. Supposed to be out on Verizon in a month or two. I'm using the i730 now (thick, but otherwise very nice), and the i760 is my technolust target.
The i730 is discounted to $199 online, which is a killer bargain. Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, PDA, keyboard, free Windows Mobile 5 upgrade...
Motorola Q has some software issues, and the Treo's quirky.
I'd say i730, PN-820, or XV6700. If you're mainly interested in schedule and won't be doing mobile e-mail, etc. Go for the PN-820.
Denny, I hate you. I had just talked myself out of buying a smartphone precisely because Verizon's selection is pretty weak(inexplicably) and of course they love crippling Bluetooth and having random bizarre restriction, but how can I say no to that thing of beauty?
I'd wait for a Windows Mobile 6 device. Word on the street is that they're imminent in the next 2 months.
Also, if you want perfect, brainlessly easy Exchange integration, you DEFINITELY want a Windows Mobile smartphone. I'm not a huge fan of the WM5 user interface on my Samsung Blackjack, but 1) they really nailed the Exchange part, and 2) browsing the web with 3G -- minus obvious small screen limitations -- is outstanding.
I'd rather have an ultrsmall mobile AND a PDA than carry a smartphone around.
Too bulky to be good phones and too small to be decent PDA's!
Get the new HP IPaq TravelCompanion (RX5700 or RX5900) with GPS built in.
Of course if you only need the Outlook syncing, then just get a decent mobile - most Nokias and Sony Ericssons do that prety well.
Er.. have you seen the Samsung Blackjack? If it got any smaller, it'd be a Motorola RAZR. And the screen is pretty decent sized, too.Too bulky to be good phones and too small to be decent PDA's!
Smartphone hardware has come a long way. It's amazing. There's literally no reason (well, other than cost I guess) to get a "stupid" phone any more.
It's the software that still kinda sucks (with the exception of the two killer features I mentioned above), which is a little surprising considering they're on version 5.0 of the Windows Mobile OS. How many more versions before they get it right?
