D-link WBR-1310 Wireless Router
I saw this on sale at Best Buy/Future Shop for $20 on boxing day, and couldn't resist since I was looking for something to hook up my xbox 360 to xbox live (I also have 3-4 computers with wired connections to a router currently).
I haven't opened the box yet, but after checking out the lterally abysmal reviews this router has at CNET and elsewhere (apparently dropped connections are a big issue) maybe I should have resisted. Anyone have any positive experience with this guy (some people seem to still rave about it) or is it a clear dud that I shouldn't even bother with? Also wondering if there's another recommendation in case this one sucks (with the caveat that I don't need anything special, and will use wired connections for everything other than the 360).

Have this very router. I'm only using it to connect two computers and a laptop to the internet (the two desktops wired, the laptop wireless), but I've not had any unusual problems. Don't really have any raves or gripes. I wish the admin screens were laid out more logically, but that seems to be an industry-wide problem.
It gets the job done. What more can you ask in an age of half-measures?

o.k., it sounds like it's at least worth opening and giving a shot.

One issue I forgot about earlier. I couldn't get the router to connect wirelessly with security enabled until I updated the firmware to (I think) 1.03 or whatever the latest firmware revision is.
Course it may just have been my incredible ineptness at networking, but after the update it worked fine.
