    Awesome. I was thinking of doing that same thing today. Now I'm considering trying to determine the power draw of the official sensor bar and attaching it to its own wall wart.

    You could also dissect the cord and attach batteries to the leads. Would be a bit more elegant. If all it does is provide power, it should be easy enough to separate the wires.

    Yeah, I haven't been able to figure out what the power draw is yet and I don't have a multimeter.

    Cheap at Radioshack, along with the soldering iron that takes 15 minutes to warm up.

    Screw all that. Just use candles if you want a cheap, portable sensor bar.

    I was playing over Thanksgiving, and noticed that the wiimote was centering at weird locations. Sure enough, the bazillion candles we had lit was messing with the sensor. After playing around with them, I was able to make the console work by unplugging the sensor bar, and putting candles on top of the TV.

    (Note that the candles were removed shortly thereafter, as I don't hate my TV that much).
