    Wii Lines Have Begun

I drove by the local Best Buy on my way home from work tonight and there were about eight people lined up. A couple tents too.

I'm gonna laugh a little on the inside if you can walk in and get one most places on Sunday and those folks were waiting for nothing.

On the other hand, I'll head out a little early tomorrow night just in case. :D

Even if the Wii ships out 4-5 times Sony's numbers, isn't it still reasonably likely they'll sell out?

    A) They're cheaper.
    B) People want the new, and they ain't getting the PS3.

As far as I'm concerned, I'd love to run out sunday and get a new game console at the local Best Buy. What's the launch lineup for the Wii look like, though? Considering I've bought all the highly acclaimed Zeldas and never finished them, I don't think Twilight Princess is enough to do it. Is the new Mario game a launch title? Is there a new Starfox or an RPG or anything like that?

Maybe they're waiting in line for the next shipment of PS3s?

Nobody outside my Ground Zero Best Buy yet, but we're three hours behind Dave on the east coast.

I am hoping to avoid a full-on Wii camp-out but it may be necessary.

I really wish Nintendo launched the Wii ahead of the PS3. Not because I give a crap who is "first", but because I'm starting to think a lot of idiots might see all the crazy PS3 hullabaloo on the news, figure they missed out on that ebay gravytrain, hear about the Wii, and go camp out for one figuring it's the next best ebay thing, thereby making it slightly more difficult for me to get a Wii.

I'm not too concerned. If I drive by Target tomorrow at night and there are sixty people there, then I'll get worried. (They're getting 69 at my Target.)

I'm just going to go hunting for a Wii and a copy of Zelda Sunday morning. If I can't find it, I'm buying Gears of War and some Taco Bell and going home for the day.

That's my basic plan, though it'll be Gothic 3, a new video card and El Faro's.

Also, you guys have it good. I probably won't open mine until December 25th because I'm going to be The Good Dad and save it for Christmas for my three boys so everyone can be surprised and have a fun day.

My friend is getting one, so I'll have to try his out before then.

Steve Canyon laughs at your ridiculous notions of good fatherhood, Dave. LAUGHS.

I got my wife Guitar Hero 2 for christmass, and have since then finished all the songs on Medium, and am starting on Hard. :-)

Anyway, you guys better hurry up quick and join the Wii little camp out. How else are the rest of us waiting for reviews from the early guin... adopters going to know whether to get one?

I'm The Good Dad the rest of the year too. :)

This is my first weekend off that I'm not Mr. Mom or coaching or taking kids to birthday parties, etc. etc. etc. We're going to see Happy Feet tomorrow afternoon.

Also, my boys lost games for like three weeks because of various things. Crime and Punishment at the Long Household includes a videogame ban.

There's a snag in my great Sunday morning plan, which is that Target opens at 8am, but Costco doesn't open until 10am. That means my backup will have been open three hours before I can check the primary.

    What to do?

Ooooo, does Costco usually get consoles the day of release? (I'm new at this Day-One console thing)

I'd just go to the Target after checking how many they're going to get in. Either that or go at midnight to a Super Wal-Mart if there's one nearby.

It's funny how effective the threat of not allowing kids to play video games is.

Is Wal Mart the only store selling them at midnight? Or is best buy doing the midnight sale as well?

I only checked at one, but my Best Buy is not doing any of that midnight stuff, they open at 9am Sunday.
