Advance Wars on the GBA is like PG Lite with anime characters.
This game was the best. Is there a modern day equivalent?

Yeah, that and PG2 rocked. I wonder if it plays on XP.
I loved the somewhat branching campaign with the possibility of invading England and the US. Super elite german scout units taking on tanks. Yeah, that's the stuff...
PG I/II were cool games. Easy to get into, but still offered some good strategy with inundating the player with tons of statistical data.
Uh, you mean "without" inundating the player, don't you?

yea, I need to remember to preview my posts more...
I tried loading up "People's General" the other day and didn't have any luck. I can't remember if I was on XP or just '98 with a newish version of DirectX. Anyway it seemed to have major redraw problems, so I'm assuming there's something they did which doesn't agree with the latest versions of DirectX. I did manage to get Allied General running.Originally Posted by Pillbod
Unfortunately Advance Wars is missing the one element that made Panzer General (and Fantasy General) great games: persistent armies. Building your forces over the course of the campaign was half the fun.
Don't get me wrong--Advance Wars is still a fine game, and I understand that the limitations of the platform make it hard to keep track of that much save info. Still, it's no Panzer General...
Download the Application Compatability Toolkit from microsoft and fool around with it; you should be able to get it working.Originally Posted by ydejin
The last/latest PG game, Scorched Earth, actually added a skirmish mode, sort of.Originally Posted by Anonymous
Dunno about XP, though. Live dangerously.
