I'd kill for a portable Daggerfall.
I'd kill for a portable Daggerfall.
In a weird flip-flop, with the hard drive standard, the PS3 is probably a much easier platform to develop on than the 360.
What they should really do is bundle it.
Except that everyone who wanted Oblivion probably has it already.
I don't.
Sony faithfuls will be attracted to TES the same way Microsoft faithfuls were attracted with Morrowind.Originally Posted by Igor Muravyev
A PSP version? Oh shits sold.
Bethsoft never said anything about Oblivion being a 360 exclusive and they can't release a game before it launches. So long as it isn't a piss poor port, I'm sure it will sell.Originally Posted by worm
Fantastic. It will be interesting to see what the framerate difference will be between the two consoles.Originally Posted by Rob Beschizza

How the fuck is a PSP version going to work?
Bethesda will have quite a bit of extra time to work on it to try to tighten it up some. However, the framerate on 360 hasn't bothered me at all.Originally Posted by Jake Plane
Somehow the fact that Oblivion will be a Launch title made me want the PS3 less... If it was MGS4 however...
Anywhere I can find out what other titles will supposedly launch with the PS3?
It's going to consist purely of Oblivion load screens, that change whenever you hit the X button.Originally Posted by Jason McMaster
I'm also told that, to approximate a true Oblivion experience, the load bar will slowly creep up for about 30 minutes, at which point the PSP will crash with a dirty disk error.
Me either. Hell, I installed Morrowind on my desktop computer the other day and found that it was a slower experience than playing Oblivion on my 360 console.Originally Posted by Jason McMaster
I agree that the PS3 version of Oblivion will probably run smoother than the 360 version at a minimum because Bethesda will have more time to refine it.
But I am looking forward to the head to head comparisons between the two consoles. There's so much over-the-top spin out there.
Are there going to be any PS3 launch titles that will be simultaneously released on the 360?
I take it you're unfamiliar with Oblivion for Mobile Phones? (real link to the Bethesda website)Originally Posted by Jason McMaster

Why not just say "no plans" if that's what you really mean. Every bit of correspondence I've seen from Bethesda on the issue is always careful to make sure "announced" is in there. If this rumor is true, expect the "announcement" to be at E3.
Because, as the riddle thread clearly demonstrates (and I'm guilty of this, myself), nothing keeps people talking quite like a little ambiguity.Originally Posted by Kevin Grey
Is it? I've always heard that MS was actually doing a much better job than Sony when it came to making an easy platform to develop for...and I would think that a PC-main developer like Bethesda would feel more comfortable on the 360.Originally Posted by stusser

But that's counter productive in this case. The only "talking" that will go on here is people who might consider holding off on purchasing a 360 for Oblivion (and the game certainly seems to have attained "system seller" status"). It's not really in MS or Bethesda's best interests to have any doubt about this if it is truly a console exclusive.Originally Posted by Greg Sarjeant
Possibly. I think that any talk about a game (aside from "this game sucks") is better than silence. Of course, we are hardly at the "silence" point with Oblivion, but it has been out for a few weeks now. This will gives the discussion a little pre-E3 nudge. Something like this could get the game back into the heads of some of the people who are holding off on a 360 purchase just enough to get them them to go ahead and buy one if no PS3 announcement is made at E3.Originally Posted by Kevin Grey
Or that could be completely ridiculous. But speculation is fun.
I think a psp version could work fine, but I suspect that it wont be playable at all, the ngage mini MW was total garbage even for an ngage title.Originally Posted by Jason McMaster
If they had interest they could probably do a pretty good job of converting Morrowind to DS/PSP. Though probably Daggerfall to start off, and preferrably to PocketPC ;).
It will signal the 'next gen in handheld gaming' as it will have load times so long it will qualify as episodic content.Originally Posted by Jason McMaster
