WTC replacement design decided on

Is it just me, or does this look like something out of Logan's Run?

The real question is... Will anyone want to work there?

Any indication of why they chose that design?

Apparently they don't want to be upstaged by all the funky designs in China, Indonesia, etc.

Thanks Moe, that has to be the ugliest design, why the fuck is this 'abstract' thing so popular? Rermember that Christo guy that killed a lady in California with his umbrella project (just TRY to find info about that)? He wants to put giant yellow sheets someplace in New York as a 'gateway'
Of course Bloomberg was the only proponent, so naturally he'd go for this abstract shit.
'Hey these buildings are angled! Wow! That REALLY makes me ponder the nature of man in the universe or whatever shit I'm supposed to be pondering.'
Edit: Yeah, the giant pointlessly tall spiral designed to make this the biggest building in the world isn't gonna make America look bad. Luckily the guy who owns the lease hates the design too.

Bah, i still like it better than the other finalist design - two big framework cylindrical towers that are 75% empty air. That design was just a waste.

Kinda interesting link I found, while reading about this on fark, about other tall buildings and why the CN Tower blows:

It kinda puts off a poor-man's Fortress of Solitude vibe.

I'm just relieved it's not a big Freemason obelisk of some kind.

What you guys can't see, because it goes out of frame in that picture Moe posted above, is that there's a big scary's clown's head on top of that spire to the left.

I thought it was a Jack-in-the-Box dohickeys for your antenna? Even if it is a clown, I am sure Jack in the Box is going to rent that space, so they can put on of their antenna dohickys on it.

I'm not crazy about it aesthetically, but I think it's keen that they're moving the Saudi Arabian embassy to the top 5 floors.

just build this...

i don't know the exact stats but it's over 5000ft(i think) and designed in 1956 by frank lloyd wright. supposedly it was buildable in 1956(with the only problem being the elevators) so it should be easy today! :P it's known as the illinois or the mile high.

Elevators are always the problem, really.

I think the pyrite quartz look is a great way of keeping me from complaining, because I can't tell what the hell's going on in that picture. What's with the sticky stuff holding the triangle tower to the big building?

It needs a scary clown's head stuck on top.
