    Nikon ends film camera production

Somewhat related to the digital camera threads... Nikon goes all digital:

The company will stop producing film camera bodies, along with interchangeable manual focus lenses, lenses for large format cameras and enlarging lenses, it said. However, it doesn't expect stocks of these products to run down completely until the Summer. It will also continue to offer its F6 flagship pro-oriented film camera and lenses. Sales of the manual FM10 will also continue outside Europe, the company added.

That's pretty freakin' bizarre, considering the dedicated Luddite customer base. So many people shell out tons of cash for antiquated sound equipment because they are sure it is "purer", I don't see film going away in the near or far future.

But in case of cameras that's the amateurs, not those professionals that buy expensive pro cameras and lenses - they all adopted to digital quite early (allthough some photographers I know, still maintain a single analog camera for achieving certain effects - but it's been 3-4 years since I last saw one use analog)
