Debt free! Thanks football fish!

I've got peaches native to my town, with cherries, apples, and coconuts planted. The apple trees have made it from sprout to the next stage of growth, so hopefully that's a good thing. I don't have any axes to cut down existing trees. Also, I have a urinal in my living room.

My creatures are whining about wanting to meet new people, so my gates are open. I have cherries, need pears.

Who the hell do I have to blow to get a goddamn shovel?!

Nook hasn't had one yet, he's closed today, I've got bushels of non-native fruit I need to plant...

After I check to see if anyone has their gate open, I'm going to open mine and get back to work. Not all that much to do in town with Nook's closed today (come look at my malformed snowman!), but hey.

My shop has one today, I'm pretty sure. I'll open my gates later (much later)

Nook is closed today in mine too.

After a gyroid drought I am now drowning in them. Anyone want to try trading to get a full set of them? I have a plinkoid, a mega tootiod, a sproid, and a strumboid.

My Nook was closed Saturday, and when he reopened (I'd paid off my house Friday) he'd enlarged my house and made a new shop for himself. He also finally had a shovel and a watering can. And a Christmas tree :)

Of course now I owe him over 100k bells for my upgraded house.... eep.

Water can is used on wilting flowers to make them stay alive.

Finally got an axe ^_^

I now have Apples and Peaches growing in addition to my Cherries. I think at least 4 pear trees survived and should fruit tomorrow, and at least 3 orange trees. Just need coconut now.

Of the cherries, apples, and a coconut that I've planted, only the apple trees look like they're going to make it. I got the golden shovel though!

I think an "appropriate" spot for trees is either one you've dug up and replanted, or at any spot that is at least 2 tiles away from everything else. So, not next to a wall or another tree or a house.

Also, when Shelly says more green, does this mean more tree,s or should I plant seeds or what?

Sahara visited my town today, a camel that wanted me to make several deliveries, so I did. Got a cool desert vista wallpaper.

One of my animals is leaving, Lobo, which is sad. It would be worse if he wasn't a jerk.

Nook expanded for the second time, still no hairdresser though.

Lobo's back? Sweet! He was my favorite character in the GC version. I made him call everyone 'dumbass', which was very appropriate.

I picked up this game over the weekend, but I don't have a wireless network at home. Does the USB WiFi adapter actually require XP as stated, or is it more of a 'not supported on other OSes' sort of thing? And how likely is it that someone will hack the protocol and be able to access all my network shares through the adapter?

Edit: Crap, forgot to mention I'm running Windows 2000.

XP is pretty much required. I think it would tack some pretty serious hacking to get it to work for Linux/OSX. I've heard people claim that it "just works" in OSX, but after trying it with my girlfriend's laptop I can say this probably isn't true. Have yet to try it under linux as it is almost certainly futile.

As for security... well I'm not savvy enough to comment. I feel comfortable enough in Nintendo's warm, loving embrace though.

dannimal, I have a shovel that I have been saving for a friend, but she got her own over the weekend. If your gates are open when I get home (8pm PST or later) I will drop by and give/mail it to you.

I also got the golden shovel this weekend, its easy to get:
Use a second shovel to dig a hole, and plant your shovel. Wait a day, and when you dig it up again it will be a golden shovel. It increases the amount of cash that the daily money rock dispenses. Also, you are supposed to use it to plant a bag of money and grow a money tree, but there's random risk involved in that.

I saw a car in front of the town hall and some giraffe had shown up. She gave me a quiz on fashion, called me frumpy, and gave me a moldy shirt. So I dinged her car with my shovel (or tried to).

I'll leave Ulthar open for a bit if anyone wants to see her. Edit: Whoops, looks like she disappears when the gate is opened. The car's still there though.

So I put everyone into my wife's DS but every time she talks to Copper and connects to wifi, the list of towns to visit is empty. If I go into the heart menu where I put the town names, I see Irmo has a green circle, everyone else has a red triangle.

What does this mean? I assume the green circle is someone that has you on their friend list as well, and red triangles don't have you on their list? Would this explain why she can't see any towns that are supposed to be gates-open at the time?

I'm not sure what the circle/triangle thing means, but either no-one has their town open when she is looking to visit (fairly common) or no-one has added your wife to their friends list. I don't see your friend code on the first page of this thread, so its likely people havent added you. I have run out of friend list spaces now, but if you repost your wife's friend code, I will nuke someone I haven't seen yet, and add her later tonight.

Green means they've been online at the same time as you at least once, red means they have not yet been seen online.

Blarney is open for business all nite long!

I also found an extra shovel so if you need one it's laying on the ground near my town entrance. Help yourself!

Yeah, I've seen you online several times Aszurom (Irmo is my town) but I always get the connection error when I try to visit.

Well, I couldn't connect tonight (where I could this afternoon), so I'm just convinced that Nintendo doesn't want poor Journ to have a shovel.

Me too. When I opened my gates Copper would say weird stuff like "It looks like someone's gate is currently open. Are you sure you want to open yours?" And when I tried to connect to another town he told me that for some strange reason I couldn't connect, and to consult the manual. And then there was a meaningless string of numbers (though come to think of it it may have been the friend code I was trying to connect to).

Mine was an error # (61020), which the web says might be blocked port related, but that seems like crap because I connected fine at other points today (unless Comcast is just fucking with AC:WW players).

A few wishlist items for the next version:

- The ability to visit random people online, not just your friends list, perhaps with restrictions (can't chop down trees, dig holes, etc.) to prevent griefing. Or at least share constellations, bottles, etc. with the world at large.
- Better disconnection handling. Maybe this was to prevent some kind of duping exploit, but it's still awfully harsh to lose everything you did on your own DS just because you lost the WFC connection.
- The ability to save and continue, without having to reload from the startup menu.
- We've got snow but no snowballs? Come on, we need massive snowball fights!
- Multiplayer minigames. In particular, I'm thinking of something like being able to place a chess board and start a game with someone else, who can visit your town to make their move when it's their turn.
- A better music editor. I was all set to make Stones my town theme but the editor isn't anywhere near up to it. (So I settled for a slightly-off Hail Britannia.)

Maybe they can flash a patch... :)
