Anyone else a Mieville fan? (always want to type Melville - so many interesting analogues...)
I've started and had to put down PSS three times - this time I'm going for it, PSS to Iron Council.
"Veldt to scrub to fields to farms to these first tumbling houses that rise from the earth. It has been night for a long time. The houses that encrust the river's edge have grown like mushrooms around me in the dark...the river twists and turns to face the city. It looms suddenly massive, stamped on the landscape. Its lights well up around the surrounds, the rock hills, like bruise-blood. Its dirty towers glow."
A little purple, but gawd I love (t)his stuff.

You mean search is actually enabled? :) So used to it being shut off for server performance reasons.Originally Posted by Houngan
I liked it. The Scar is even better.
That's what I've heard - how does Iron Council wind up in the rankings against the other two?Originally Posted by Midnight Son
Love the PSS. He's got a new book of short stories out too.
I liked most of King Rat.
I was going to make a snarky comment, but instead I'll just point out that you've spelled the book title incorrectly in the topic title.
It's Perdido Street Station.
Iron Council isn't as good as The Scar I have to say.
We've discussed Mieville a bunch in this forum.
Lol. You'd have been snarking my 6:00 a.m. lying in bed with a Powerbook eyesight. ;)Originally Posted by Andrew Mayer

Snark on!
I totally dig his stuff. Particulary PSSs po-mo, mad-scientist's-point-of-view in Issac (who I always see in my mind's eye as being played by Phil Foglio. Yeah... I know it's weird...).
