Supposedly Misha Collins will be back, but not as Castiel.

As far as I can remember, Misha Collins has always been billed as a guest star. Regulars get paid different. Pretty sure that he was on guest last year, at the very least.

Good on them for continuing their momentum. I kind of want them to get one more season and just go full-on Preacher.

He was an actual regular for seasons five and six, I believe, but now has been put back to guest star.

Brian's correct--he received third billing at one point, right after the two mains and not as a guest.

Last night's episode was quite good. I wonder how long it will take for Sam to find out about what Dean did. Also, Jewel Staite! Bonus: She was using the name Amy Pond.

That was definitely not horrible. Was that Ackles's first time directing? Because if so, he did a pretty good job with as much time as he was directing himself.

It was his second time, actually.

Can't wait to finally see the episode tonight.

Ahhhh....that makes sense. Looks like from IMDB that he also did Weekend at Bobby's (where he has a much more logical amount of time on camera for a first time director). Which, if it's the episode that I'm remembering, was one of the best of last season. Dude might have missed his calling here. I think I might be more interested to see where he goes from here as a director than as an actor. At the least, I'd like to see a short or feature from him that doesn't have the Supernatural writers' room behind it.

It is, as it was one of the best of last year.

Weekend at Bobby's WAS the best episode of last year. I wasn't surprised that this episode, even if it was a creature of the week episode of sorts, was also very good. The setup and eventual end resolution really got me. Also, Jewel Staite.

I give the whole show a lot of credit for really maturing Dean this episode while still staying true to the character. He's not going to have a big bitchy fight with Sam (which has happened a few times in the past) as to whether or not they should blah blah blah. He's just going to go and get it done. And he's still got at least the semblance of a formal code. It's harsh (one strike and you're out), but he sticks with it all the way through. I do so deeply and genuinely want them to go full Preacher with the plot after they get done with the Leviathans. I'm pretty sure they won't, but it's nice to dream.

Just finally watched the episode, and I agree. They really made a bold choice in Dean doing what he did, yet I totally can't NOT agree with it, and like you said, Brian, it was in character. VERY well done, very dark. Loved it. Also, Jewel Staite was awesome.

On a lighter note, seeing Sam get punched in the face and then flail backwards was a true delight. :)

That was hilarious, didn't he go flying over the bushes or something?

Over or into, something like that. Jared Padalecki is excellent at physical comedy like that.

I'd say last week's ep was the weakest of the season so far. It barely touched upon the arc and didn't have a helluva lot of tension. It had some great moments though with Jo, and Dean outside the bar was hilarious. I also enjoy the actor who played Osiris. Other than that, meh.

Between Warehouse 13 and now this, Faran Tahir seems to be mounting a late career campaign for the office of Ethnic Guy in Genre Shows. I kind of want to see him get his own show. He's an interesting dude.

Oh yeah, I totally loved his parts in Star Trek and Iron Man, and I liked him in this, so yeah, I hope he keeps getting more parts. What did he play on Warehouse 13?

He was the Regent who wasn't in charge of anything important but seemed to be assigned with the task of telling Captain Janeway everything she was supposed to do, and also looking worried a bunch.

Last night's episode was pretty dang good, a bit lighter than usual, which was nice. James Marsters and Charisma Carpenter did a great job too as the dueling witches in love.

Two things bothered me though. First, Dean's insistence that he'd remember what Bobby was telling him on the phone. Dean's never done this to my recollection and it felt out of place.

Second, after James Marsters knocked out the Leviathan, WHY didn't the brothers as him HOW or WHAT he did to do that? ARG!

It looked electrically-based though, which makes sense since the Leviathans seemed water-based. Maybe electricity will be their big weakness?

James Marsters was an over 800 year old warlock who fried the leviathan with a spell. It seems unlikely they'd be able to replicate that at will.

Electricity and water sounds like a nice idea, though he did mention that his spell couldn't kill it so they should probably drop it in a bottomless pit.

Does it make me a terrible person that I just laughed for a solid minute at "B.M. Waste Disposal?"

The reaction sold it, but the comedic timing was impeccable. That was definitely due to Ackles' directing, just as perfect as the timing in Weekend at Bobby's.

Charisma Carpenter is aging remarkably well. She needs to be on another show as a regular. A show that I watch, preferably.

    Spike looks weird with hair.

Not a bad entry for one of the funny episodes this season, though the reality of having to pay Jim Beaver made the fact that you never hear or see him at all stick out to me.

I know, right? She's totally hawt, and really sweet as well in person, I'm told.

Spike's hair didn't distract me as much as whatever it was on his chin.

And yeah, that kinda did stand out.

I'm pretty sure we'll be seeing Spike and Cordelia again, since both of their characters very conspicuously survived their meeting with the Winchesters. The only antagonists that do that are recurring antagonists/future allies/whatever.

Just saw Friday's episode. DAYUM that was good. Finally found a way to maybe not kill the leviathans (I wasn't clear on whether they did or not), but slow 'em down for a long time. I loved everything about this episode exceeeeeeeept the ending. I said to myself, "Really, this again?" I mean it makes sense but since it's happened before, it lacked the emotional punch it might have otherwise.

I believe that the theme they're going with is that they're essentially redoing the first season, so Sam and Dean having a pissy little fight and breaking up for a while makes a certain amount of sense at this point. I do wish the writers would let Bobby sack up and have a girlfriend, though. I like this actress, and it might be nice to see happy Bobby for more than one episode at a time.

Hope. Sometimes I think the show needs just a tad more of it so that it feels like the boys actually care about the fight. I love the show, but it almost feels like they (or Dean at the very least) are fighting evil out of habit.

The one thing they did fantastically with the 5th season was to give Dean something to look forward to when the fighting was over. At this point, if they beat the Leviathans, what's he going to do? Probably just keep fighting monsters...
