I know "ambush" entertainment is all the rage, but I really question how you can legally embarass someone in public and then profit from it without their consent. I doubt the people in those photos signed a consent form.

I don't really know Japanese law (or American) but over here the simple law is, that if you choose to do something embaressing in public, it's your own damn fault if others see or even record it.
Only exception is if you're mentally ill, injured or otherwise not in control of your own actions.
So the lesson is "get a room!"

It was a GGW girl that went back to some hotel room to film a hot scene with her friend or something. She figured that the video would get thrown out since she didn't sign a consent and (I believe) wasn't of legal age. The GGW people put it on a tape anyway, she sued, and won.

i believe that there are only a very states that require written consent forms. the reason GGW is able to do so well is that most states just require oral consent. GGW was actually unaware that, hrm, virginia, or whever this particular episode took place, has a stricter law.
