Inaugural Quarter To Three Poker Tournament Thread

The tournament will be on Pokerstars. It will be either $11 or $22. It will be at least 60 minutes after this post. It will be No Limit Texas Hold 'Em.

This thread is for narrowing down the rest of the information.

    Day or night?
    Weekday or Weekend?
    Who's up for it?

  2. #2
9 pm EST works any night for me, with some advance notice.

I'm good for an $11 tourney

9pm EST is ideal here too, weeknights preferred (except Wednesdays when I go with my Guild Wars guild for GvG action).

I've thought about trying my hand at online poker -- might there be room for a sucke^H^H^H^H^H poker newbie? I'll pretty much count on losing my $11, but a) it'd be fun, b) I expect I'd learn a bit, and c) I'd at least be losing it to someone I know (in a 'net forum kinda way).

The key Andrew, is getting the $11 onto pokerstars, which is not a trivial process (at least it wasn't when I got myself setup)

Check out the payment options here: http://www.pokerstars.com/realmoney.html

Thanks for organizing this, Ben. I'm interested in the $11 tournament.

The 9pm EST time works for me. With 3 days notice for a weekday, and a week's notice for a weekend, I'm good to go 95% of the time.

    I propose an alternate system:

    1) We nominate five candidates widely believed to be fair and neutral.
    2) People vote in a poll and the winner becomes the dealer
    3) The dealer uses physical cards and deals hands to the people participating in the game
    4) The dealer PMs the participants with their down cards and posts the up cards
    5) Betting ensues. You can bet a number of "posts" which are either added to or subtracted from your post count.

I nominate the following five people as the dealer:

    Brian Koontz
    SpoofyChop
    Midnight Son
    chet
    wumpus

Monday at 9 pm is good for me. However, I don't have the slightest idea how to enter a private tournament. Any pertinent links or a PM would be appreciated; thanks in advance.

I don't want to create it until we finalize a time(cancellations require emailling support), but on Stars, just go to the "Private" tab under the tournament tab. I doubt they'll let me name it Fuck Star Wars, so it'll probably be called Quarter to Three or something.

Didn't want to be the first one in case I needed to move the time. Come on, kids, don't be scared. It's only $11.

Hmmm... Are any of you guys using NetTeller? They have a $25 minimum, vs $50 (I think) for any of the other payment methods, which is appealing for obvious reasons.

Won't be there in time for anything Monday night, obviously, but I'll give it a shot at some point :)

I've used Neteller for a few years with no problems at all.

Anyone who's procrastinating on registering for the tournament, I'll have you know I'm in the middle of the biggest downswing of my poker career, so you'll be missing out on free money Monday.

I'm going to paint the town red with my beeeg winnings, but when I get back from Wendy's, I think we should try to set up the next one farther in advance. Give people a bit more time. If anyone has an account at another site and needs help getting money to Pokerstars, I have an account with just about every poker site of note. So if you can do an account transfer, I'll sell Pokerstars money for any other site money.

I got back from LA at 2am Monday, and didn't get through the life backlog until just now, or I would certainly have been there to paste all of you.
