Yeah, I saw that and I don't give the Wheaton love. He's an okay writer, I guess, but his blog always struck me as chock full of ass kissing and self-promotion. It's probably the name recognition.
Starting a new section. For some damned reason they hired Will Wheaton, but this interview of Will Wright & Howard Scott Warshaw by someone else is pretty cool:

It looks like Wheaton will only be doing nostalgia based reviews of older console games. The current reviews appear to be done by the regular reviewing staff. For me this is a great development as I've typically found the onions other reviews to be uncannily spot on.
Agree completely. Even when they have dislike films that I've enjoyed Phipps et al usually have such thoughtful and articulate reviews that I enjoy reading them despite not even agreeing with them all the time.Originally Posted by raoulduke099

I think part of it comes from just how much irrational hate some of us have for the character of Wesley Crusher. People who didn't even really watch iStar Trek: The Next Generation hated crusher. And then when you see him on the Screen Savers or read his blog or Slashdot writings, you see the actor is actually a pretty good guy and suddenly you feel guilty for just how much you hate you had for him because of a stupid character. So you develop some guilt-like for him.Originally Posted by Thrrrpptt!

...if our demands are ever to be met by the technophobic masses. All hail the Wesley!
Damnit. I wanted to be the one to bring game reviews to the Onion AV. It was my secret dream.
While it's unlikely that I would be fired in such a willy-nilly fashion as I was from my last gig, it certainly wouldn't hurt if you all visited and read this. Those of you with weak stomachs should know in advance that it is in fact, a console game.

Dude, where's the number rating? I don't care about the text, I just want to know what you gave it on a scale of 7-9.

OK it's stupid, but I actually laughed out loud at this. It's the Gamespot Rating Scale!Originally Posted by TomChick

Well, to be fair, a lot of places actually use the 7.3-9.3 (or 73%-93%) range. It's a lot more dynamic and allows finer tuning.

How quickly you forget that bad games must have the available 6.8 and those that break the scale can reach that coveted 9.8.
