Do signatures work?

I have a pithy phrase that I want to attach to every post I ever make here, and I heartily inserted it into the "Signature" field in my profile. I even check "Attach signature", and yet, my nugget of wisdom never shows up. "What the deal-yo?", as youth like me are wont to proclaim out loud?
