Heh. Here's something I learned about the game. Save early and save often. There were several points in the game in which I had to reload again right before whatever important happened so it would unfuck my quest log. I.e. talking to Tin Can Bill *after* killing the plague carrier makes it sound like you never killed him in the first place, so I wasn't sure if I could go complete the quests properly or not... I've noticed a few time where if I 'missed' a certain conversation option it never appeared again. That's probably what happened. I got into the habit of quicksaving before many dialogues for just that reason.
I think I've seen that a few times. I thought it was deliberate on the occasions I noticed it. Example: Damsel in the Anarch bar has (had) a dialogue option along the lines of "Can I join the Anarchs?", which I skipped at the time because I didn't want to change allegiences at that point (I'm not sure if you even can, can you?), but it wasn't there the next time I spoke to her.Originally Posted by Quaro
With the E/Lily quest, my dialogue options all end up with him telling me the story, then me saying "I'll keep a lookout for her", which ends the conversation. He never mentions the diner, and I never get a quest log entry, so either the log entry is not being created when it should be, or I've lost a dialogue branch somewhere.
I've had all kinds of crap happen. During the tutorial, the dialog reset itself and started over from the beginning, although it no longer matched the environment because we weren't in the same place. I didn't stick around to see what happened, however; I just jumped into the regular game.
I have several side quests that haven't terminated, even though they're done. Also, I'm wondering about the werewolf blood one, although that may be my fault. I finished it, but I only received $150, whereas others say you're supposed to get $1000 and a bunch of exp. That may be because, like a lunkhead, I went in through the front door and got spotted, which summoned the cops. Interestingly, I blew two of them away upstairs, but nobody seemed to hear or care...except LaCroix, I guess. (However, if this were the cause of my not receiving the full reward, I would tend to think of it as a failed quest. Yet it's in my completed quest log, so I'm really confused.)
As cool as the game starts out being, I'm beginning to side with the crowd who thinks it's not worth it. When you can't be sure whether you're doing something wrong or suffering from bugs, that's usually a sign of design suicide.
The Tremere downtown apartment is pretty swank. I was beginning to regret not sucking up to the prince, but this will do indeed.
I only got $150, and I didn't fire a shot - just persuaded the guard to open the door for me, grabbed the blood and walked straight out.Originally Posted by muttbunch

Normally I would just hold off on the game a bit and wait for the patch. With Troika's history, however, the patch will likely be a long time coming.

Both parts are showing a glowing concern for those people who paid for the game.

So, again: Has anyone been able to complete the "zombie shoot-out at the graveyard" mission?
It kicks my ass every time, even with cheats and what nots.
They are also saying the same old "we knew/have fixed several of the bugs but for some inexplicable reason Activision shipped an old version" that they said with ToEE.
Troika has now had games from almost every major publisher- Sierra, Atari, and Activision. God bless 'em, I love their games but their QA practices are awful.
The fact that there is a *game-stopping* bug that is frequently encountered yet no immediate patch is forthcoming just to address that issue is pretty inexcusable. Meanwhile Valve had identified the stuttering issue in HL2 and will be pushing that out to customers tomorrow.
I'm still having a lot of fun with the game, in fact more fun as my character's powers develop. Some of the puzzles are surprisingly non-obvious, but I haven't run into anything yet that didn't yield to a little experimentation. I found the sewers the worst part so far, mostly because they were so long...Originally Posted by muttbunch
As far as bugs, the transitions seem to get longer the longer I've played, eventually leading to a crash to desktop.
I just got to downtown.
Anyone had any luck getting Jeanette in the sack?
Also, does the player character sort of 'slide' for other people. Slide is almost too tame a description...I find my character getting almost stuck sometimes, like I am sliding on a patch of ice or something. It really sucks when it happens in combat.

hah nah the female vampires are all teases.
I completed the Zombie Shoot Out by bringing him a pimp. There must be some way to get between the gates faster, I dunno. If your ranged skill is 2 or lower, he'll offer to train you as a reward so it's worth doing it the pimp way if you need to.
Oh, and another thing... I don't get this whole Masquerade business. How it works, I mean. I'm a Nosferatu, and I'm supposed to be so hideous that I need to hide in the shadows so no one sees me. Presumably, then, I don't want anyone to see me because it will result in a Masquerade violation. Yet when people on the street see me, they merely scream and run away. There's no violation, which makes the point of me hiding kinda moot, it seems to me. Occasionally a cop will come around looking for me, true, but they're easy enough to ignore.
Moreover, there are plenty of characters in the game--mere humans, not vampires--who are able to look at me without wigging out. These, of course, are the NPC's necessary to get/complete quests. But it totally ruins the whole concept, not to mention making things ultra-confusing for me the player, if some human NPC's wig while others don't. I never know which is going to happen when I go into a new establishment. For instance, the bail bondsman likes me, while the old lady at the diner freaked so bad her whole body went through the floor. Only her back showed above the tile, wiggling there in fear like a mound of blue jello. I had no idea whether I needed to talk to her or not until I actually tried it.
My female malkavian just did sex with him herself and now he's her willing blood doll.
Yeah, happens to me too. I was worried my optical mouse was playing up or something.Originally Posted by olaf

I completed it on the first try just by shooting / hacking up zombies. Though it looked like I came close to losing.Originally Posted by Roger Wong
Would have done better if I didn't try to use the Protean spell which totally killed my frame rate.
Passed it on the first try wit my melee-ish Ventrue. One of the gates took a beating, but all things considered it was pretty easy.Originally Posted by Jonathan Blow

The ending is lame beyond belief. I mean, that is close to what I thought would happen, but jesus christ.

No, I meant to ask if anyone had done it by actually killing the zombies. It isn't called the same thing in your quest log if you do it your way, it's called "Pimping for..." so and so, and you bring him a prostitute not a pimp, btw. ;)Originally Posted by Quaro
Well, I'm not sure exactly since I don't know that much about Nosferatu in general-- but in the Werewolf game if a human sees you in crinos (war form) then they will react depending on their willpower. Most humans have a low willpower and will just go fetal position or run off screaming, and will black out the entire event. High willpower humans (including some law enforcement, some religious people, hunters, numina enhanced or kinfolk for shapechangers, etc) will resist and will remember, but will likely be discounted unless they capture photographic or video tape evidence (and even then people will be skeptical, due to rational modern society). In Vampire, I'm not sure how it works but I'm guessing that there is a willpower check there for normal humans and if they pass the check then there is a potential Masquerade problem only if they capture it onto evidence.Originally Posted by muttbunch

I.e. the photograph of the Nosferatu you pick up in the "investigative journalist" apartment in Downtown L.A., and such.
One nitpick, though, the entity in the hospital is not a vampire and it doesn't make sense that it would be a "masquerade redemption" in game terms to do what she asks. She is actually a type of mage that has become undead through necromantic rituals (najarega or something, i forget the spelling-- someone mentioned it on the board on GameFAQs for the game). This isn't to be confused with Tremere though, since I guess Tremere used to be Order of Hermes fellows and she is from a sect stemming from Euthanatos...?
This is probably a representation of their willpower and whether they are a ghoul, numina enhanced (i.e. a sage, shaman, witch, mage), kinfolk (garou relative/bloodline, but not a carrier), hunter, or such, and whether their faction or background would make them fear or like you. It would be nice if they had some dialogue for each of those reaction types to make it even clearer why it happen, or some information around their residence that makes it clear. In such a scenario the bailbondsman could have something on his computer that is password protected, such as email, and if you hack it that could see that he is in communication with a vampire or such. Which would make sense, since it could be possible that Nosferatu might have ghouled him to have up-to-date information they might not be able to get from just the courthouse.Originally Posted by muttbunch
Honestly it seems like they just ran out of time to further flesh it out so that it seems more seemless.
Yeah, melee has a chance for insta-kill, can hit multiples at once, causes knock-back, and lots of other nice things. It makes sense for vampires for these effects, since it causes lethal damage, but I'm not sure if the same thing should be true for zombies. Certainly the knock-back seems a little absurd for either case, since you can hit multiple zombies and throw them all back....Originally Posted by Kalle

I didn't do the zombie shoot-out deal in the graveyard, but my experience is from kicking their butts in the Giovanni mansion.
Oh yeah, this is totally lame too:
If you don't have high stealth you are totally screwed for the Mitnick missions, even with Obfuscate!
Oh and to save people time here is the official (and updated!) support page for the game at Activision (who are retarded for telling me that Firefox needs to be upgraded to Netscape to view their shitty ass site).
