Also, the shadows in Thief: Deadly SHADOWS (of Death) are not superfluous.
"Remember when it was okay for a video game to not have convex volumetric fog rendering and bilinear interpolated textures to be fun? Since when did it become acceptable for 30% of your system's resources to be devoted to rendering shadows, atmospheric scattering, ambient light effects, and all this other superfluous bullshit that game coders keep adding to their engines so they can win some imaginary pissing contest?"

i think he's getting a little too big for himself. The last few of his 'articles' haven't been that funny at all. Especially that one.
Is he popular or something? I guess given some of the other stuff that's making it big on the internet these days, I could believe it, but then again, fuck.Originally Posted by nutsak
Yeah.. as amazing as it sounds, Maddox has been pretty huge on the internet for a few years now. Usually his stuff is pretty funny.. or at least downright depressing.
Have a look at the people per page down the bottom. Oh, there was also that website that compares visitors or hits.. Penny Arcade used it a couple of times to prove how awsome they are.
You should email him that; Maddox seems like a reasonable guy, someone who will accept a little constructive criticism.Originally Posted by nutsak

Well, he's mostly a dumbass based on my perusal, but that's a damn good criticism of The Last Samurai. Unforunately, he really ran out of steam with his 5 movies that everyone thinks are good but actually suck. Only Braveheart is really regarded as a good movie.
He's always reminded me of an obnoxious morning show DJ --- his insults tend to be obvious, and he rants about things I don't care about anyway --- but he does have his moments. Whenever someone sends me an online quiz, I send them Maddox's online quiz (http://maddox.xmission.com/personality.html and they never send me another one.
This guy is funny once in a while, but mostly he's a big baby whiner.
Well, Braveheart may have been succesful at the box office, but it was hardly criticallly acclaimed. I admit that the line 'What the hell do you know about battle scenes? You're a team manager for an insurance company, go manage something. ' made me smile though. As DaveC says he can be funny at times, but you could say the same thing about Stalin.Originally Posted by Ben

You're a struggling writer whose writing happens to suck, but fortunately for you, the sucking doesn't stop there. Ride your shitty script from one producer to the next, armed only with your glossy lips, tube of chap stick, and a powerful set of lungs.
Some of the troubles you'll encounter are: trying to cope with your hopelessly inadequate talent, flirting with repugnant men with smelly balls, and living with yourself for being such a shameless whore.
Yeah I'm not sure who he pwned here. But I don't think it was Game Developers.
