That's cool. What I really want is for someone to find a way to update it so that I can run the game in higher resolutions (like the BG mods). Now that would be perfect.
Like the BG2 fan-made bugfixes, there's one for PS:T! Many inconsitencies take care of! The horribly evil bugged Ice Knife spell removed! Lots of exclamation points!

What's these higher-res mods?
Thanks for the heads up, Baldurdash never came out with a fixpack for Torment. :)
About the high-res thing, I think he's referring to a mod that lets you run BG1 using BG2's version of the Infinity Engine.
There's also a mod that will let you run BG2 using the IWD2 engine, with 3.0 rules.Originally Posted by Mehrunes

TY for the Fallout 2 and PST fix links.
Anyone know if there is a fan mod of fixes for Wizardry 8? :P
Was Wiz 8 that broken? I think I ran into one plot show-stopper (killed somebody I actually needed to talk to first -- and didn't find out about it until many saves down the road), but that's about it.
--scharmers
I stopped playing it solely because I got tired of watching the monsters very slowly shuffle around the map; the delay was completely intolerable with 20 of them on the screen. Having them teleport would be nice.
Seriously? Damn, I played this through three times and never noticed. Thanks, Jason."Ice Knife" spell removed. The spell is bugged and causes permanent negative effects to your party: a decrease in "ToHit" unless the character is killed and resurrected.
Speaking of Infinity Engine bugs, is there a way to reset a party's location? I've got a IWD save (my only save after a big battle) where my mage somehow got stuck on a table and now can't get off. I don't want to revert to an earlier save because my party is horribly unbalanced and I had to save-reload the battle 20+ times.
Put cheats=1 in the icewind.ini file under Game Options. Then press Control Tab during Gameplay and type in GETYOURCHEATON:EnableCheatKeys(); Control-J should cause your entire party to teleport to wherever the pointer is.
That fans have to realease patches to fix problems with games is a sad commentary on the game industry.
I got screwed out of the ending of PS:T. I finally killed the foozle (well, not actually, if you know what I mean) and the screen just scrolled down to the far bottom right of that particular map.
No cut scene. No end.
I looked around and found that it happened to some systems, and there was no fix for it.
I still wonder what people talk about when they say that the ending was sad, but fitting.
Arrrrgh.
If games had to be perfect to ship, we'd never see anything more complicated than Pong. The bugs it fixes are rather minimal.Originally Posted by Charles
There is a thing called WizFast you can download. Also, there's a program to calculate out what you need for each spellbook to learn it. http://wiz8.web1000.com/Originally Posted by Jason McCullough

There is actually more than one ending for the game... :)Originally Posted by Dean
BTW - That Fallout 2 fix posted, make sure you get the "unpacked" version because the other one has a tendency to corrupt save games in Klamath (that's as far as I could get where my saves would load properly).
oh, and to install it on XP I had to make a shortcut to setup.exe on the cd-rom and set 640x480 mode in the compatibility... (same for the fallout2 shortcut it makes after it finishes)

Really, I thought it was the same end regardless of the way you handeled the final boss.
Thanks for the Fix Pack love, Jason. :)
If you are backing up your saved games and un/reinstalling the game (or bringing a saved game from one computer to another, or if your OS account doesn't have the rights to change certain files in Torment's directory), any save from after you've entered the Fortress but before you've gotten to the roof will be useless if you brought any party members to the Fortress.Originally Posted by Dean
The reason for this is when you enter the Fortress it saves files to your override folder with the information for your party members, and also layout.ini is involved in the process as well.
What will happen is the game will get stuck when it comes time to resurrect your companions.
Nowhere in the game's documents does it guarantee you can transfer saves. You were screwed out of nothing, you trash-talking bastard. :P
Kevin Dorner was thinking of doing one for Torment once he was done with Baldur's Gate but this Torment Fix Pack was released long before that happened.Originally Posted by Mehrunes
Hell yes! I'll pick this up from EB again.Originally Posted by synic
Uhm, I never transferred saves. I was playing on Win98, on the same system from the beginning of the game until the end. The game is long uninstalled and the saves are deleted. (sigh)Originally Posted by Platter
If it's any consolation, I liked the game. I just wish after playing all the way through it that I could've seen the end(s) -- and if I remember correctly I tried all the various ways to beat the foozle and none of them gave me an ending.
I loved Wiz 8 as well. Played thru to the end and really enjoyed it. I loved the combat depth. the sci-fi elements, the magic system...the whole nine yards.Originally Posted by Jason McCullough
I really, really didn't like the way that monsters scaled in that game. No matter where you were, you'd fight monsters that were your level. It felt like I wasn't making any progress. I finally gave up when I went back to the beach where you start the game, and thanks to the scaling, the crabs were actually harder the second time around. Much harder. Plus they had psionic powers.Originally Posted by graller

Ding!
That really freaks me out every time I hear her spit it at me. Who did Dionerra's voice?“You! What is it that brings you here?! Have you come to see first-hand the misery you have wrought? Perhaps in death I still hold some shred of use for you…?” Her voice dropped to a hiss. “…'my Love.’ ”
Jennifer Hale, who also did Fall-From-Grace.Originally Posted by Jason McCullough
Oddly enough I was able to get that from the IMDB. I knew it was the same woman doing both, but didn't remember the last name. :)
This made me think: Is there a site that collects saved games for people in Dean's position?Originally Posted by Dean
