From what I understand the team that ran Interplay, Titus, retained the rights to a Fallout MMO after selling the rest of the franchise to Bethesda. I believe the company is still known as Interplay but know little of their current whereabouts or financials, or where even the development will come from (or who).
I can see where it would be easy to put 2 and 2 together and say = Bioware/Austin, un-named big-time property (probably sci-fi), Bioware=relationship with Interplay, MMO, no dev team to speak of that anyone knows about, big license, Fallout.
Money can come from a lot of places these days.. there's an entire new generation of dotcom millionaires, energy barons and VC firms that are just waiting on the right project to fork out tons of money.
That's part of the clout that something like WoW or even SL gives you - it suddenly makes your industry noticeable outside the usual places.
