NB Forrest could have been a Panzer General. He was the father of modern mobility in warfare. He was a remarkable figure who's ties with the KKK, among other sins, make him off limits as any type of hero for the general public.
He was arguably the best military officer the South had during the War.
Mosby, well he is the pinnacle of what partisans, or in some cases what special ops people can do.
Because we wanted to focus on squad level type campaign, larger forces were not an option. Mosby lived and operated in an area 60 miles from Washington along vital supply lines for Union and Confederate armies. Overall, what he did, who he did it with, when and where he did it- makes for a great setting for a game- he was unique. The fact that you get to play it out as a campaign, and you can end the game with a few guys you started the game with, makes for a compelling play through and replay as well.
(Did you know that at one point during the war they feared that Mosby would try to kidnap Lincoln? They actually removed the planks from the bridges on the Potomac at night for a brief period. After all, he kidnapped a General from the middle of his camp.)
Kuddos to Steve Grammont and the Combat mission games- they are top notch.
