View Full Version : Who would you vote for President of the USA?

noun

Like the question says, if the election were held tomorrow, who would you vote for President? I admit this poll is about as scientific as an MSNBC poll, and probably worse given the number of liberals on this board, but what the hell, I'm curious.

Hey look! Cherub cast the lone Dubya vote!

Actually I got up early and cast the lone Dubya vote, but that was mainly because it was obvious to me that everyone else was going to vote for Kerry, especially since there is no SHIT BONERZ! optoin.

Doug Erickson

Yeah, the lack of a "SHIT, BONERZ" option kinda invalidates this poll.

Duality

You can't vote "SHIT, BONERZ" as a write-in?

That's why I included the "damn you noun" option, so people could both express their disdain for this poll AND insult me at the same time. ;)

I voted Kerry. Though at this point, I regard him as the greater of two lessers. But hey, at this point, ABB.

What the Democratic party needs is a world-class orator and statesman who will make W. look like a 5-year old trying to recite a speech from memory with a foot in his mouth during the debates.

This country used to have true statesmen. What happened?

Television and sound-bites.

Kerry isn't my favorite politician by a long shot, but no way on earth I'm voting for Bush -- he's just embarrassing.

Geez. I didn't think this boards demographic was that strong for Kerry. Maybe the Republicans are still at work and haven't made it home yet to vote.

Haven't a lot of people here who said they typically vote Republican are voting for Kerry this time around?

I am a Democrat and will vote for Kerry. I didn't think Bush getting in last time was going to be that bad but it has turned out far worse than I imagined. The only good things I think Bush has done are be presidential in the days right after 9/11 and invading Afghanistan. After that all I see is a complete clusterfuck in pretty much every facet of his administration. I really wonder why anyone would vote for him based on what he has done.

Because he done kicked some serious ass?

Plus... lookit that smile! Just lookatit! Now, would a man with that smile lie? I reckon not. He's obviously a wholesome God-fearing man.

God Bless America.

I think it's more that Bush has pissed off a very large segment of the (normally) reliable GOP community. There appears to be a large number of Bush 1-type voters who think Bush 2 is bonkers.

He's also done a good job of convincing wayward Democrats like myself that ABB is the right strategy. I don't particularly love the Democratic party, but after two elections of voting for random 3rd party candidates, I will definitely vote for Kerry this time around.

Well Bob you did say LOL after your own sarcastic joke, so you cover the AOL crowd...

My parents tend to vote republican, are voting democrat. According to my dad, down at the VFW, they all hate Bush and go out of their way to bash him and have comments for him they normally reserve for minorities*. When you lose the 70+ blue collar crowd in Ohio, you aren't going to do well, they are the traditional Reagan democrats.

*Going to some of these events is a crazy throwback to the 40s. My Dad isn't racist, but some of these old guys are crazy racist.

Oh and Bob, if the majority of this forum says they are voting for the democratic candidate and not Bush? Well that means it is a good reflection of last election.

Sorry, the Supreme Court says only 12% of the poll is needed to win.

Old white guys are always this weird form of racist. It's benign racism, not Aryan Brotherhood violence, so most of the time they'll appear normal and interact with black people as if they were normal, but then they'll say some crazy shit about that nice black boy or something.

It's tough to explain, but if you know an old white guy, you know what I mean.

When you lose the 70+ blue collar crowd in Ohio, you aren't going to do well, they are the traditional Reagan democrats.

Fortunately for Bush, what he's lost in those Ohioans, he's gained in the form of Ohio's own Walden "Wally" O'Dell, CEO of Diebold, one of the two electronic voting machine companies that will be responsible for Ohio's vote counts.

Now it sounds "tin-foil hat paranoia" enough to say this that I actually wish I didn't feel this way, but I am damn concerned over O'Dell's letter last fall in which he pledged to "helping Ohio deliver its electoral votes to the President."

It doesn't help my feelings of unease that both Diebold and the other company responsible for electronic voting hardware, Election Systems & Software, have strong ties to the Republican party.

Yeah, I know, the rational part of me wishes I didn't have this underlying sense of paranoia about the whole thing, and it's somewhat silly to think some grand conspiracy is going to take place, but I can't help but wonder if Ohio is going to the Florida of 2004.

This is going to be one wild election. A year ago I thought the 2004 election was merely going to be 2000 part 2: the revenge of the Democrats. But like others have said, Bush and his adminstration have gone so far to the right they're alienating their own voter base.

So we have an increasing group of moderate voters who want to put an end to extreme conservatism AND liberalism, wondering who'll do less damage....

Arasmus

I picked independent, but in reality I'll vote for Kerry. Same ABB reason as other pissed off conservatives. Man this guy gets on my tits.

Doug Erickson
04-15-2004, 09:14 AM
Well, that's the Kerry gambit -- give the moderate Republicans a moderate Democrat and hope that they'll vote for him given Bush's idiocy. Hence the pell-mell attempts by Rove and Friends to paint Kerry as a liberal: they're honestly afraid that if Kerry gets vetted by the press as a moderate (which he is; Kooch is a liberal, and Kerry is vastly to the right of him), they'll lose moderate Republican votes en masse.

Ah well, there's always Diebold.

Sounds like my dad, though I wouldn't call him "old" by any means, he's not even 50 yet. And I'm not so sure if I'd call it benign either. Sure, it's not a violent form of racism, but the generally hostile and mistrustful mindset that comes with it can be every bit as damaging to a person trying to integrate into society. With neo-nazis you can atleast say that they are stupid fringe groups, but when the very core of society fears and rejects immigrants/minorities then that is a significant problem.

man if you really believe that you have to get your little browser working to explore some more of the world. Either that or "the majority" of this board voted is West Palm Beach FL

Unintentional comedy? Most people in Florida seem to think they voted for Gore, but somehow, Bush managed to win those Electoral votes...

Rotor, huh?

Little boy, or as strangely want to call you, MachFive II, you do know that GWB got less votes than Gore did, but GWB won the electoral college? Right? I think they teach about the electoral college in 5th grade, so maybe you will learn about it next year?

I have never heard anyone disputing that portion of the election before, and that was what I was obviously referring to, so can you please tell me where to point my "little browser" (sure wish I was leet enough to have a big browser), so I can explore the world where my statement isn't true?

At least you guys feel like you actually have a choice - you can actually choose Bush or the other guy as your ticket to hell.

Last time I voted I tried to figure out who was going to get the least amount of votes and pick that one. Much more interesting.

Kerry really lacks charisma.

I'm beginning to think that Bush is going to win a 2nd term. Right now, things are pretty bad, I'm predicting that Bush will up his use of scare tactics and make people believe that Kerry will make things worse.
