So I have read some previews (http://www.gamespot.com/pc/rpg/spellsofgold/) and checked out Buka's site (http://www.buka.com/game/Game_17.htm) on the title. It is an RPG/Strategy/Trading game from one of those crazy overseas developers that, again, come up with great ideas, but are somewhat lacking where the execution of the gameplay is concerned.
It has been out in Europe parts of Europe and is, supposedly, coming to the States any second now. Have any of you played, seen, or even touched this game? Or heard of?
I expect this thread to be off the front page by this time tomorrow. :)
P.S. Mayhem (Makers of the soon-to-be classic Empire of Magic) and Strategy First are putting out ShadowVault in April. A Steam-punkish turnbased strategy game. Don't get too excited.

So, when are you going to post your first impressions of both of those games, Tyjenks? I assume you bought them already.

Seriously, obscure-Eastern-European-developers'-low-budget-PC-games are like Tyjenks' kryptonite. Kryptonite in a lead box coated with gold and held by a really hot woman that he can't possibly resist. He's inexorably drawn to them, and yet ultimately destroyed by them.

It's boring. Crap Diablo style combat mixed with crap trading. Worth it only for the goblin guys who try to mug you while beaming cheekily.

Thanks Charybdis. I appreciate the quick dashing of my hopes. Now I can search for new titles to dissapoint me. Although, "crap" as a resource for trading does sound a little interesting.

You will all be sorry when I am the only one playing the Greatest Game ever to come out of the former Soviet Republic. It will have every game element we all want and be pulled off perfectly and it will be so entertaining you have to have several changes of undies available while playing.
As for your patently false claim, I ended up staying away from Nexagon: The Pit!!! Huh, whaddya think of that.....oh and you are right....I cannot stay away. I want something new, New, NEW in PC strategy gaming so seem to be willing to try anything. Or I want another series to be birthed that is equal to or exceeds the fun I got out of the Heroes games. Yes, even Heroes IV.

You're welcome. Although I do like it when obscure games are surprisingly good - Europa 1400 was a particularly good one that I wasn't expecting anything at all out of ;-)

Definitely.
It just seems to me that out of all of the obscure titles that miraculously make it onto shelves, more than one every 2 or 3 years should be fun. So I keep fishing.

Have you checked out Buka's recent WW I: The Great War (Entente in Europe) and Fair Strike yet? Both came out here a few weeks back at $30 a pop.
Entente doesn't impress me as anything beyond the usual RTS (but I haven't put in much time yet), but Fair Strike looks intriguing. It's been a while since I played a decent chopper game. (Comanche 4, which has a similar action/sim concept.)
