It's X-COM. Pretty impressive, though no deformable terrain it looks like. Otherwise, it seems a faithful adaption. Right now, only a demo is available and it includes a small taste of the geoscape and a couple of terror missions.

Looks like it has a lot of potential. Thanks for the link Mark.

It's based on the Quake 2 engine, but it's a stand-alone game.

I've played a bit now, very impressive.I had one glitch during the Alien turn, but the game didn't crash,I just missed a part of the combat resolution.Too bad the enviroment isn't destructible, and I'd like to see some missions in severe darkness,a la the first X-Com,but overall they've done a lot of good work so far.

Is there a way to reserve action points for 'opportunity fire' during the Alien turn?It doesn't seem to happen automatically,or at least I haven't seen it.

Interesting demo, but if it were a commercial game I'd be quite dissatisfied.

Doesn't seem to be any opportunity fire. Maybe that's a feature planned for the future.

I was surprised at just how much it managed to feel like X-COM.

It really does capture that X-Com feel, but yeah, it isn't polished enough yet to monopolize the next 200 hours of my gaming time.

I read a few posts on their forums. There won't be destructible terrain, but there will be some destructible objects.

Opportunity fire, or overwatch, or whatever you want to call it, isn't planned at this time, though they are at least considering some kind of auto-defend option.

I really think they need to work in some kind of opportunity fire. That's a key element of X-COM. I can live without the destructible terrain, though I'll miss it. No opp fire is just removing an important tactical layer, however.

Yeah, it's more of a tech demo than a demo that's representative of a complete game. I hope the guys don't run out of steam.

To me it isn't X-COM without destructible terrain. Might be an OK game in its own right, but the feel wouldn't be the same.

Agreed. That's a big reason why Aftermath sucked, and Silent Storm is heaven on a CD.

Ah yes, nothing like making up a new door in the UFO. Of course, without opportunity fire, you can just walk in the front door unaccosted.

Well in the demo you can't just run up to aliens willy-nilly. You'd better take them out too, or else they'll take you out on their turn.

It really does need some kind of opp fire, though. I think the modders are going to look into that now that so many players have posted about it on their boards. They may make all walls destructible, too.
