I'm a bit of a halfwit when it comes to hardware, but usually I can install new drivers with no effort at all.
The Mobility Radeon 9000 on my laptop is another issue altogether. Every attempt at updating it gives me the message that I should use the standard VGA driver before installation, but I haven't a clue how to do or where to find this in WinXP. No alternate drivers or diplay adapters are listed in the system menu. Updating the GeForce on my desktop is no trouble; why is this such a hassle?
So any advice or guidance would be greatly appreciated.
(Apparently the old driver is what is causing Empires: Dawn of the Modern World to crash, so I'd like to get this fixed.)
