View Full Version : The Dom2 mp trash-talking thread

Someone should start a Dom2 m/p trash-talking thread.
I wholeheartedly agree.
Rob's game: ASK NOT FOR WHOM THE BELL TOLLS, CHICK!! And whoever is playing Jotunheim, you're about to face the massive armies that resisted the ruthless T'ien Chi advance. Take it somewhere else, big boy. Same with whatever coward is playing R'yleh. Yeah, I saw you park that army in my bay, and I saw it move away the next turn when I moved my own army up. That's right, you know what's good for you.
Carnifex's game: You independents better be quaking in your boots, because I'm about to give you what for!

Rob's game- speaking as Pythium, watch out for those friggin' giants! They're bloody everywhere; stomping here, fee-fi-fo-fumming there, everywhere in my (ex-)empire. Things that I learned- level 10 garrisons are useless and level 20 garrisons barely work as speedbumps. Oh, and thanks for taking that western province of mine too, Rob. Did you organise a Molotov agreement with the Jotuns? Another thing to remember in this game- there is no such thing as alliances, merely postponed invasions.

Ok, my game was on turn 9 on December 8th. That's a smoking 1.1 days per turn.

ok, so I guess I'll try the demo tonight. I really love trash talking.
I better not like this game.
Bruce and Tom are both pussies who will beg you to kill them once they lose interest.
I think that was at around the one year point in our SMAC game. Everyone lost interest sometime during the second year, but dammit, I'll send my turn again if anyone shows a smidgen of interest!
So how many turns do Dom2 games go to?
Rob O'Boston

Oh, and thanks for taking that western province of mine too, Rob.
That was merely a defensive manuever. I call that a Rumsfeld. Actually, I'm starting to feel bad for the giants, both because I don't think Steve reads qt3 (or does he?), and because he appears to be located directly between me and Ryan.
Don't get any ideas Oberly. I'm still coming up there to break all your little skeletons.
Actually, trash-talking about an ongoing game doesn't seem very wise.

Judas!! I hope you love this game and lament forever the moment you voted against it in the Koontz Awards!!!
Dean, I can last 80 turns before the AI gets the upper hand for good. But, I'm really, really bad at the game. I understand the mechanics and the tactics, but I tend to screw up grand strategy in just about any game.

I suspect I will be facing a three front war in the game I am in, if this comes to pass consider your registration codes voided come next patch. Thank you for your cooperation.

As far as I can tell the only way to get your hands on it is from Shrapnel Games webstore, which sucks because that puts it squarely outside my pricerange. I rarely can afford to buy full-priced games as it is, and a 14$ shipping fee on top of that...

Sure, just like discussing strategy and tactics isn't, but what the hell. Besides, maybe it's all a cunning bluff.

It's online order only, and you have to order the CD.
So how many turns do Dom2 games go to?
I'd say 60-80 turns, but I've only finished two games.

Hah!
It's on turn 10!
Course, I'm probably the only one counting the turns that closely, since I doubt I'll see turn 13.
Why the hell do the fish heads feel so threatened by the dead guys?
It's not like we're going to EAT THEM! I'm just hanging out, minding my own business, and BOOM, Bruce attacks my capital. He gets repulsed, mind you, and I'm chasing him back into the ocean, but WTF? Is this a lemming run in reverse? Why would R'lyeh make a point of attacking the only other nation in the game who can FOLLOW THEM INTO THE OCEAN?
We're peaceful dead- hell, we're even grateful dead. We've attacked no one, built no weapons of war, and don't even have a coherent command structure. Work with us, squidheads, and we can truly have
peace in our time.

Ok, I'm gonna try it out and if I dig then I'll order it. It seems cool so far, the demo that is.
Hm, let's see, in one game, I'm trapped in my castle, army deserting because I have no income, just waiting for the axe to fall.
In another game, I'm trapped in my castle, waiting for the axe to fall but at least they aren't deserting because they're all undead.
Actually in both cases I haven't quite reached the point of no return yet, since collaborating with the occupying forces seems to be giving me a prayer of hanging on for a few more turns before my humiliating defeat. "Vichy" Marignon is still in it though! And my Alamo-style undead holdouts at least gave those pesky Jotuns a black eye once when they tried to crush me using only 1/1000th of their army.
Oh wait, in a trash talking thread you're supposed to talk about how good you are doing, aren't you?
Um, I mean, just you guys wait, when I call my God back eventually you'll be in big trouble!

I just received a call that I may be assigned to Hartford for the next 7 days. Needless to say, I am horrified at what will happen to the days-per-turn ratio of all the games I'm involved in. I'll keep everyone posted. This is totally out of left field, and in the New England vernacular, I'm wicked sorry.

I'm not sure I get this reference, if you are talking about our game. Are you implying that I have been invaded and turned into a puppet government? Because I must have missed that... ;)
No, in one of my games where I'm playing Marignon I'm alive only as the puppet government of our Jotun overseers, err liberators. Fortunately two nations clashed over my home province, so I'm alive for the time being but I don't expect it to last long. :)

I was reading through the poor Romero thread and found this gem
The Stevie beating Romero at Quake story: does it strike anyone else as a reversal of Robert E. Howard's Red Sonja myth? The she-warrior who will remain virginal until she is defeated in combat by a man, whom she must then marry.
Since it appears I am getting ganged up upon by no less than four players and very possibly will be defeated, this theory has frightening implications. I just hope I won't have to marry all four of them. Johan Ebonstone Frazier Chick von Geryk sounds so cumbersome.
So gentlemen it is time you reevaluate this unwarranted agression of yours, or you might just have to move to massachusets.

Last night in the game I'm hosting my fire mage battallion met Clark's Jotun army in the biggest Dom2 battle I've ever been in. Huge drama. I was outnumbered, but not by too much, and I had 3 grandmasters, my prophet, a special hero (this kick ass inquisitor general), a paladin, and assorted witchhunters and priests. My army was mainly crossbowmen, supported by 8 summer lions and 8 royal knights and some men at arms and some barbarians.
I was facing a large phalanx of giants, backed by archers. To either flank there were undead giants. There was a barbarian horde. Amongst his leaders was his his pretender.
My opening: flame arrows and fireballs. The battle has just begun and his entire front line is on fire.
Steve's opening move: He casts rain. RAIN! Where did all the fire go??
The rest of the battle was intense, but I think I lost it right there. And also, my mages should never have been so close to my crossbowmen.
I've got to watch it again....great stuff even though I lost.

I'll second (or third) that Clark is damn good at this game. He's rolled over me partly just because he's got a huge empire and I was tied down fighting fucking Tom for so long. But even that aside (and that itself is a difference between us because he's better at the game), his combat tactics were much better than mine, although now I've learned some good tricks. But I had the third-place empire in this game at one point, and his giants have come rolling through with only one brief defeat, while simultaneously fighting a major war against Marignon. Kudos to you, sir.
And while I'm talking about getting killed and also about Tom Chick, WTF is up with Caelum in the Game With No Name? All of the sudden a troop of SEVENTEEN mammoths walked across my border. Jesus.

No kidding. What the hell is going on? I thought the conventional wisdom was that the resource-hungry Ulm are strong on quality instead of quantity. Which doesn't explain the height of Clark's line on the Army Size graph.
All of the sudden a troop of SEVENTEEN mammoths walked across my border.
The circus was in town! And as you can see, much to my chagrin, it stayed about as long as a typical circus.
