I know some folks here (such as Denny) are running the D-Link Wireless router DI-624; I've got a couple of questions for you.

1. Even when my desktop system, that is connected by cable to the router, is turned off the light for the connection to that port stays on. That seems odd - I would assume that when the computer is turned off, that light should also go off. (I get a little paranoid. ;) )

2. Using the D-Link icon tray utility on my notebook, it seems that my signal strength stays at poor, with occasional moves into good - with reported signal strengths of about 50 - 60%. It will occasionally bump up into 90%+ for no discernable reason. What's odd; this is a floor below where the router is located, but when I moved the notebook with 5 feet of the router, the signal strength was about the same. (Link Quality is reported as a constant 100%.)

3. Related to the above: the Windows network tray icon shows a constant "Excellent" signal strength, even though the DLink utility shows something completely different.

Thanks

I have the 614+ rather than the 624 but I've noticed the signal strength/quality indicators on my wife's computer (the one connected via a wireless card) and the laptop rarely correspond to any discernible performance state. It seems to be random graphics :D
