I'm not really sure I have an opinion on the topic, but this article from Salon about some Kurd's opinion on the matter is poignant.

Amna Abdulqader lost two sons, a daughter, a daughter-in-law and three grandchildren when the bombs carrying mustard and other poisonous gases fell on March 16, 1988.

Asked about Saddam's punishment, she at first seemed sad, remembering her loss and saying nothing would bring back her loved ones.

‘‘They're gone, nothing seems to matter anymore," she said.

She showed a picture of her dead son, Bakr. ‘‘He did all my shopping, took good care of me." He was just 18.

But after a pause and more thought, Abdulqader became animated and seemed intrigued with the topic of punishing her torturer.

‘‘If he had fallen into my hands, I would have bitten off his flesh with my teeth," she said.

With her teeth, folks. Say what you will about the people in the Middle Ease, they definitely have a way with words.
