So I'd like to run some tests on my new laptop (Sager NP4080, I think it is, with a Radeon 9600) because it seems unreasonably slow.

I have no idea which ones to use and where to get them. Suggestions?

Here be the standard benchmarks everyone's using (where me == everyone):

Futuremark (www.futuremark.com) (previously known as MadOnion) offers PCMark (general) and 3DMark (graphics), both in a 2002 and a 2004 edition.

SiSoftware (www.sisoftware.net) offers Sandra, a comprehensive system analysis tool that also includes a bunch of benchmarks for specific components and operation modes.

All of these benchmarks are free though you can buy enhanced versions if you wish.
