memory question

I have 1 gig of pc 2100 memory. I believe that is what is called DDR266. I thought that if I was to get an intel chip with a 533 bus or an amd with a 333 bus, I would have to get pc 2700 memory. I've been told that this isn't the case memory upgrade is only needed if I go to an 800 mhz intel bus chip to pc 3200 and that pc 2100 was fine for everything else. If this true or false?

Bull's right -- give it a go. Some PC2100 will run at DDR333 speeds. Note that you may have to manually set it in the BIOS.

However, there's always the possibility that it won't be stable at that speed. If you suddenly start getting a lot of system crashes, then you'll need to back of the memory clock or get new memory.
