Its a review of Destroyer Command.

Yes, a recent review of Destroyer Command.

The rather sad part is that the reviewer, a formal naval surface officer who obviously knows his shit, doesn't realize that Destroyer Command is a big old pile of shit. So there are pages upon pages detailing the "flaws" in this game, and sadly, I don't think anyone cares.

He also does wierd stuff like hack the game to allow the player to control a battleship, and then gets annoyed when ramming this battleship into other ships doesn't result in the proper damage.

All in all, just wierd. A long indepth review from a high realistic perspective for a nearly 2 year old crappy game that no one plays or cares about.

On simhq it is not so surprising. These days part of being a sim grog head means that you have to do stuff like this, to prove how hard core you are. Does he also compare it unfavorably to IL2?

Nah, he's got a P2-350 that would explode if he put the IL-2 CD in the drive.

LOL!

Does anyone still play Destroyer Commander ?!

Oh, nothing ever dies in the sim community. There is ALWAYS someone out there modding some old-ass sim better swept away into the pandemonium. Like Parsoft's Fighter Squadron. There is a tiny group of diehards still haxoring this sim into a WW1 sim, long after you can literally get the sim legally free (for S/H) off a web site. Christ, there's people modding Jane's Fighter Squadron and making missions for it. It's like being a retro-gamer, but sadder and lonelier.

That seems to aptly sum up the entire 'flight sim' fan experience.
