I'm looking to purchase a new digital camcorder but the model I'm considering (Panasonic PV-GS70) supposedly has a sucky image stabilization system. I'm planning to use a tripod for the most part but may occasionally use it as a handheld.
If the video is shaky can that be fixed in software? Does software like Pinnacles $99 video editing program have something that can compensate?

Why not just get a Sony or Canon and not have to spend hours editing out shake?
The only video editing package I have that includes a plugin for removing camera shake is Adobe Premiere Pro. That's not a $99 package. :-(

My tiny Sony DV is great - no visible shake, rock solid.
Like Denny, the only software I know of that does a "shake-correction" is Premiere Pro with a plug-in; I don't personally use that one due to cost. I have used Pinnacle Studio 8 and Magix MEP 2004 extensively and Ulead's $99 program a little, and none of them have anything for that. And I'd be surprised if you'd be happy with the results anyway.
