My wife's ancient 760E seems to have a broken power switch/power actuator, and I was wondering if this would be an easy home fix. It's one of those laptop power switches that pushes one way and then snaps back immediately, and now there's no tension there so the machine won't power up. My local repair place is telling me that it would be $110 to fix, with two hours labor, and the computer isn't worth that these days. Anyone have any advice? I've been all over the net just looking for basic tips on how to open the thing up, and can't find a single pdf with more than basic diagnostic stuff. Nor have I seen this problem referred to anywhere.
Or should I just chuck the thing in the trash? I'd have done that already, but my wife gets emotionally attached to stuff.
