I logged into the Mumble server yesterday to play League of Legends. Everything was fine at first; I could hear people talking in channel and in turn be heard. Once we got into game, however, people started to cut out, and eventually I couldn't hear anyone at all (the overlay for mumble still lit up when appropriate). I made no settings changes - to my system or Mumble - to cause this. I have some logitech speakers and a logitech headset I connect via usb. As always, I plugged in before starting mumble.

I thought maybe I would reboot, as sound in game was behaving oddly (champion ability sound effects started to cut out and I couldn't her them at all the last 20 minutes or so).

A reboot didn't solve the problem. So I thought I would play again but just forgo talking. I was logged into mumble at this point so I unplugged my headphones. Once we got in game I thought it odd nobody was speaking; it turns out the overlay wasn't highlighting and I couldn't hear anyone saying anything (all other sound worked fine). At that point I called it an evening and tried to play around with my settings, to no avail.

The headphones are working; I can listen to itunes and hear plenty of other games fine with them plugged in. I have reinstalled Mumble at this point (I removed the settings when I uninstalled). No amount of effort has lead to me successfully configuring the phones/mic combo. Either I got them working during configuration (I could hearmyself talking during the volume tests) but then they didn't work in channel, or they worked spotty during config (when I Spoke into the mic the volume things reacted accordingly, but I couldn't hear anything in the earphones) and then didn't work in channel.

This is driving me nuts. I am posting pics of my current config.

Input Settings (http://img98.imageshack.us/i/inputk.png/).

Output settings (http://img42.imageshack.us/f/outputf.png/).

The key points being - that's my headset for both settings.

For input, I have 3 options: the headset, default device, and Digital Audio (S/PDIF) High Definition Audio Device. For output the differences are Speakers (headset) and Speakers (High Definition Audi Device), in addition to default and Digital Audio.

I don't remember how I configured this initially. No combination of settings - I'm not sure I've done them all, mind - has produced working results. I know that originally, I could hear everyone with the headset not plugged in.

Any suggestions would be welcome.

Grr resized images, also you posted output twice.

Try setting mumble up to output through your speakers, and disable mic input. Do you still have spotty sound? If so, you have a system problem. Check for the obvious things, like:
* Something eating all your CPU
* Updated sound drivers

If you get good sound through your speakers, find a microphone that plugs into the analog port of your system and use that with some analog headphones too.

No, just using speakers and no mic right now and no sound problems whatsoever.

I didn't think most of the input/output settings were that important (I fixed the input image). Except what I'd chosen for both and of course using push to talk. But I can blow them back up if need be.

Mic wasn't working in L4d2 or in other testing, so I got a new headset.

And I am still having Mumble issues. Right now I am configured to use the headset for input/output. It works throughout the entire audio wizard. Then I get to the end and push to talk isn't working. Wtf? To be clear, the indicator is lighting up. But no sound. But there was just sound speaking into the mic while doing the wizard.
