Is there a difference between a "secure digital" memory expansion card and a "multimedia" memory expansion card? If a device is MMC compatible, will SD cards work in it?

Awesome, thanks! The article doesn't say anything about the two formats not being cross-compatable, so I assume that they are?

Any SD-card device should be able to handle MMCs. Not vice versa though. So, the answer to your latter question in the first post would be "no". The MM standard is older than the SD one.
