I hate to make a thread for this, but I figure it will sink away fast enough.

The first game is (I think) a Heroes of Might and Magic game. It's first person. You choose 4 heroes as your party, and you start off on an island. You eventually get a castle that you have to fix up. You can eventually visit Heaven and Hell. There is a side game of visiting all the taverns in the world playing a card game where you have to defeat the computer's tower. A major plot point involved dividing up the land of 2 competing factions.

The second game was a first person fantasy game as well. There were four different factions you could join, but you had to limit yourself to the powers of two of them. I believe they were the classic fighter/healer/mage/thief factions. The only identifiable detail I remember is that you could also hire a pet from a third faction that had bonus abilities. For instance, I could have been a fighter/mage, and then hire the healer pet which I think was a floating suit of armor. The thief faction had a flying ferret that could steal things for you.

Thanks for any ideas!

This is definitely a Might and Magic, but I forget which number, it's not a Heroes of game though. I'll see if I can figure out which one it is. I want to say 7, it's either 7 or 8 as those are the only ones with the Arcomage minigame in them.

Probably because that's not the game he's trying to remember?

Ahhh yes, the first game is definately Might and Magic VII, thanks! I can't remember too many other details about the other PC game that isn't standard fantasy fluff from every other game in the world. The only thing I can think of are the familiars you can get from the different factions. (I think), a floating sword, a floating suit of armor, and definitely a flying ferret. The 4th pet may have even been a flying will-o-wisp/fairy creature. Mmmmm googling flying ferrets just gives me creepy ferret people.

It's Lands of Lore III.

Yeesssss! That's absolutely it! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G54A0Zsix80 Man, that game was great when I was the non-distinguishing youth of my past. If only I could find a copy somewhere.

Thanks a ton guys!

I never got Lands of Lore 3. I loved the first, but the second left me cold. Hmm ... I wonder if it still runs on dosbox.
