View Full Version : Man, I hope Tom has to review this one. :)

Ok, so generally I don't wish bad things on people, but in this case I'm gonna have to make an exception. My desire to read Tom's review of this thing outweighs my desire to not have another human suffer. Hopefully some news outlet will contract him to do this one.
Truly, this looks to be one of the worst things ever, and not just in games. I actually think (assuming no one was injured) that I would rather crash my car and spend the next month filling out insurance paperwork than play this game.

Really?

You know their names?
EDIT: nevermind, I shouldn't have assumed you played the original Bikini Karate Babes. Their names are at the top of the screen.
And I probably shouldn't be asking for spoilers, but they all become "friends" in the end, right?

At least I'd have remembered Bikini Karate Babes. This new name is completely forgettable.

That trailer has left me stunned. I did not expect anyone to make a live action fighting game in the year 2010.

Not really, but one cutscene does include a, erm, Tapir Punt.
Nice soundtrack though.*
I honestly don't see the purpose of Tom, or anyone else, reviewing this. Not even for the thrashing it rightly deserves.
(* Not really, but hey, I get so say something positive about this game.)

The video footage segments are "fan" quality at best. Horrible.

Alright, you bastards finally made me curious enough to watch that video. I was expecting something bad. But this was much, much worse.

WHY must women, especially women in bikinis, fight each other? Can't they all just get along?
I'd love to find out that someone who posts here at Qt3 worked on this game.

They currently offer a playable demo of Warriors of Elysia which features 4 characters and multiple environments but only with the purchase of (http://www.warriorsofelysia.com/Store/index.cfm?fuseaction=store.itemdetail&item_id=417&item_category_id=17)The Warriors Tale - Behind the Scenes DVD. An interesting strategy.
The developer Creative Edge Studios seems to be this company (http://www.myspace.com/creativeedgestudios) in Sterling, Virginia. The fact that the most information about them can be found on their MySpace page seems very fitting.
MobyGames lists the people (http://www.mobygames.com/game/bikini-karate-babes) who worked on their previous game Bikini Karate Babes.

The only potential possibility rests with: http://www.mobygames.com/developer/sheet/view/developerId,70548/ but thats probably just a case of two people with the same name. Probably.

Jarmo's Creative Edge Studios is a video production house. Oddly, there's a lot more information available on their website, http://www.creativeedgestudios.com/ than there is on their MySpace page. The front page is an "under construction" placeholder, but Google yields deeper links with details.

Oh, they do. It's just detailed in video form rather than game form.

Jarmo's Creative Edge Studios is a video production house.
It's the same company. The phone number is the same and Andy Sikorski is mentioned on the MySpace page and in the MobyGames credits. It also makes a lot of sense that a video production house with programming capability creates an FMV videogame.
Google yields deeper links with details.
A good find! The PDF documents have the exact same address as the MySpace page.
Whois search for warriorsofelysia.com yields the same company.
It's a modern, progressive company as they're already on the paid game demo bandwagon!

You can see a character list for the first "Bikini Karate Babes" on IMDB (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0479861/), including a character named "Voluptas." The wikipedia entry (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bikini_Karate_Babes) for that first iteration elaborates further upon what you can expect from the game.
For Jerri, you may want to check out the 2nd screen shot on there, as it shows that sometimes it's not all violence.

Ok, tickle attacks are hilarious. Also this game is only barely more embarrassing than Dead or Alive apart from the character names, and nowhere near as embarrassing as Dead or Alive Xtreme/Paradise.

Two questions: Why did they change the name of the game? Is the new name Warriors of Elysia a reference to the 1934 film Elysia, Valley of the Nude (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0162304/)?

Yes, the producers of this game are so subtle they can make an obscure reference to a 1934 film in their game title.

WHY must women, especially women in bikinis, fight each other? Can't they all just get along?
Wasn't that question ultimately answered on an episode of Seinfeld? I think their answer was that man secretly hope that in the midst of the physical contact caused by the fighting the women will start kissing.
Ooh, I just found the quote: ""Men think if women are grabbing and clawing at each other, there's a chance they might somehow, you know... kiss."
