"With America needing all the help it can get in Iraq, it's time to swallow our pride and give the French back their fries, a House lawmaker said in a letter to her colleagues. House Republican leaders last March, angered by French opposition to U.S. plans to take military action against Iraq, ordered that all restaurants in the House replace the french fries on their menus with "freedom fries." But now, said Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee, D-Texas, we need to bring the French back to the table."

Aren't the Democrats supposed to be out saving trees, giving the poor money for votes, and fighting against those nasty rich folk?

Just what we need, the French in Iraq so they can get spooked by a camel and immediately surrender the region they were responcible for to the Nation of Dromidary.

I think the nation could only stand to gain if we shot everyone involved with the Freedom Fries debacle. And then bury them covered with escargot and Dijon mustard.

Shelia Jackson Lee is the one that asked the NASA folks if the device we put on Mars would be able to wheel over and get a photo of the flag we planted there. I did a spit take when I read that (USA Today, I believe) a while back. Glad to see she's still on her toes.

Yep. It did give the late night talk show hosts fodder for some great jokes.
