What do you hate?

I also hate beets. Ick. And chicken pot pie. It's like some sort of trick pie. You see it and think "Mmmm... delicious pie!" But then you crack it open and it's filled with something that looks like barf or cat food.

Cheese.
I hate cheese. There is no love lost between me and that evil of the otherwise delicious dairy food category.
I make two exceptions: Pizza (when properly smothered in delicious tomato sauce and lots of meats and veggies), and cheesecake.
But cheese is evil, I say.

A lady I occasionally agree with once said that pity for the guilty is treason to the innocent. I suspect pity from the guilty is on an even lower plane.

O: What do you make of the wave of bestselling conservative commentators?
PO: People love to be told what they know already. It's not so much that what they say is wrong, though Ann Coulter does seem to be completely crazy. [Laughs.] But it's kind of like reading The Power Of Positive Thinking, or any other advice or how-to book. All they do is reassure people of their basic opinions, and then they can continue to act like they've always acted. I'd say it's time to move on to something else, but I don't know what it would be.

Right, and what does that make the people view themselves as brilliant political commentators when they are able to deconstruct them?

It's not so much the deconstruction as the political revanchism of the conservative party faithful.

8th dimension evil gets a bad rap nowadays. In the Middle Ages, nobody thought much about it. 2 dimensional evil was much more dangerous, and I think it still is today.

Oh, speaking of beer.
I hate American beer. I don't care that I was born and live here, this country's beer is the saddest excuse for an alcoholic beverage that ever lived.
Canadian beer isn't much better.
Give me Guiness or exotic german microbrews, or give me death. Just don't give me a $1 bottle of Budweiser (is that German for, "Drink this piss?")
Midnight Son

German beer is ze best, due to the "Reinheitsgebote." 8) I spent some time over there serving mah country and all and let me tell you.... good strong beer! Every little village of 2000 people has a brewery. (And the Frauleins ain't too bad either.)

I hate that embargo. There's no legitimate reason it should be in place, and we're currently in bed with far nastier mates. It seems like no one cares to even address the issue on a political level, which is annoying, because I want my goddamned cigars.

Say HELLO to all my leeetle friends (in sunny Florida). But the Cuban revolt against the Republican party is forthcoming, and with any luck the incentive to keep placating them will disappear as they become less solid. Plus once the old guard passes on...well, let's just say I haven't met many Cubans within 20 years of my age who think the embargo is a good thing.

Yep. I grew up in south florida, as I mentioned in another thread, and the community of rich exiles has an incredibly disproportionate say in state and local politics, and, on the federal level, the policy towards Cuba. I don't root for anyone's death, but I will be glad when they're no longer influencing policy.

You know, there's already a thread about this in Games, but to reiterate what's been said there: if you think that Budweiser is definitive of American beer, then you don't pay much attention when you go to the store.
I'm not knowcking Guiness (which I love), mind you--but there are plenty of beers in America that are every bit as good as what you can find in Ireland or Germany.

They're supposed to be something you're HAPPY wasting your time on. I wanted my time back after Scarface. I could've spent it cow-tipping, watching the grass grow, or some other mundane activity that would have been infinitely more enjoyable than watching Al Pacino do a lousy Cuban character with mindless dialogue and a ridiculous plot.
Did I mention I hated Scarface? ;)

Fuck joo! Scarface is like an 80's time capsule...otherwise decent actors like Pacino are on the cutting edge of self parody, and it made me laugh at Michelle Pfeiffer, which is no mean feat. Unless you count comedies like "I am Sam", it's tough to make such a classy dame look ridiculous.
