View Full Version : Un-traditional "werewolf" game interest thread

This is the thread to post if you're interested in trying a very non-traditional "werewolf" style game. Me and a friend have been discussing a high-Powers mafia game for some time, and I needed a distraction from some RL stuff, so I codified the rules and roles for it. We tried it out with a group in person last week and it went over well, but I think a forum would be a lot better.

If not enough people are interested, no big deal, we've had a whole bunch of Stake The Beast games going around. I can always try again next time the itch comes to Qt3, in a few months. :)

So if you're interested in trying out Citadel of Light's Glory, post here. The game would probably be slower-paced than the previous games, because there are more powers and actions in play (everyone has night actions to consider as well as the day staking).

I am in. After the first night, I didn't do anything useful at night. I couldn't think of anything to do other than follow up on anti-food's map and searching the gypsy caravan, which anti-food actually beat me to doing.

You need to be more specific if you want to drum up interest:

Will there or will there not be prostitutes?

Count me in for another game.

I'd suggest posting the rules before roles are assigned and the game starts, so's people can openly ask clarifying questions, etc, without worry of giving away information in the asking.

Edit: I'm up for another game, although I'd say preference should be given to people who haven't played in one recently (if there's a limit on the number of players).

I'd play, regardless of prostitute involvement.

There will not be prostitutes. But there may be cheetos.

The concept revolves around a group-powers + individual-powers aspect, whereby "circles" of players can cast spells that emulate specific powers, but that can fail if sabotaged from within, emulating circles of trust. Various powers and abilities revolve around the circles, along with the semi-traditional roles of "kill someone once per game", "if you're attacked, your attacker dies, too", and suchlike.

It sounds complicated, but it worked out very elegantly in practice. I don't want to go into too much detail, just because it's all written down on paper atm.

It also has a Magic the Gathering kind of feel, RP-wise, but of course is nothing like a CCG, being a mafia game!

There will, of course, be a seer.

Full rules will be posted long before the game starts, if enough interest exists, as well as possible roles and powers. The limit on the number of players is ... high.

I'm in if it's not too complex for a newbie.

The game's involved, but not especially complex on a personal level. Where the complexity arises is dealing with everyone else, not in what you personally can do on any given day. This is true regardless of what flavor of werewolf game you play, I think.

I'll do it, shift6's mafia game was a lot of fun.

What the hell, this sounds interesting. Count me in. I can always use another excuse to not do any work.

I'm interested, but only if we agree to stake LSB the first day! (kidding, we can stake him on day 2.)

I'm interested, it'd be my first game as a player but I've been fairly closely following the last three and caught the bug.

Seventeen people interested, apparently Qt3's not burned out yet!

I need to type up the rules and figure out which variant powers/roles will be in play, but that won't take long. I'll be posting an actual ruleset later today.

Note, the variant we actually playtested had 25 people, so there's certainly space for everyone.

Yea, sure, why not. I died too early to get to the hating myself stage last game.

It sounds like a blast, but I'd better sit this one out. I just don't have time to commit to one of these right now. I'd be out of play pretty much all weekend.
