Captain Lou Albano, who became one of the most recognized professional wrestlers of the 1980s after appearing in Cyndi Lauper's "Girls Just Want to Have Fun" music video, died Wednesday. He was 76.
He will be missed.

76 is a damn old age for a wrestler (sadly). He was one of the great on-the-mike personalities.

I met him years ago at a book signing.
It was some sort of Pot Boiler Spy Novel starring a wrestler who was trained by Capt Lou Albano himself. "Skullcrusher" or some such, it was terrible - he taught the guy how to use "The Claw". Which everyone knows was the weapon of Baron Von Rashke (http://baronvonraschke.com/images/gift_shop/bw_photo.jpg).
I bought it to have a chance to talk to the man, he was very nice. He had rubber bands taped to his face and the only bad words he had for anyone were for Bobby "The Brain" Heenan for taking himself too seriously.
He was a great promo man and his role in the first Wrestlemania is often overlooked.

There were only two of us wearing rubber-bands in our beards at school today.

I can't get into wrestling today... but I was a big fan back in the late 70's and early 80's. He will indeed be missed.
